ZOË KRAVITZ KNOWS GOOD BASICS – HERE'S HOW I'M RECREATING HER LOOKS

SLIP SKIRTS AND TANKS

Before we get into this, I want to highlight a prevailing theme in Zoë’s style – when it comes to looks this simple, the secret is quality. Take this tank and slip skirt as a prime example. You probably already have both pieces tucked in the back of a drawer, and putting them together might seem so obvious as to feel uncool. But with the right formula, two unsung fashion staples are given a fresh lease of life. The fact that this photo was taken in 2021 and still feels on-trend says it all.

BLAZERS AND JEANS

As we approach autumn, I can already feel my blazer collection burning a hole in my wardrobe. These tried-and-true layers are the perfect transitional pieces, providing style opportunities in both formal and casual contexts. Zoë reminds us all that, when it comes to a good love affair, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. A pair of denim jeans and a black blazer will always be a match made in heaven.

RAGLAN TEES AND SKIRTS

This is another example of Zoë taking two overlooked pieces of clothing and wearing them with such enviable levels of cool that I’m suddenly contemplating dressing up the scruffy old T-shirts I reserve for bed. By pairing a basic raglan tee with a sheer skirt, this look adds dimension to an otherwise casual ensemble – while the leather flats and slim sunnies create an oxymoron of off-duty style. If anyone needed a reminder that fashion indeed has no rules, let this be it.

Zoë Kravitz is the ultimate purveyor of unisex style. The key to pulling off her oversized, understated outfits and still looking put together? Nailing the proportions. This enlarged navy hoodie taps into seasonal tones, while the running shorts and ballet flats keep her slight frame from looking swamped. I never thought I’d be pairing a red pair of flats with my gym outfit, but this looks so good I’m questioning everything.
