JEANS AND DRESSES

If there’s one place to start for fashion inspo, it’s Copenhagen Fashion Week – and this year the most stylish women in the Northern Hemisphere were rocking jeans and dresses in abundance. This layered look is a far cry from early 00s tween red carpets (though we can attest those Ashley Tisdale ‘fits were iconic). Here we’re talking oversized T-shirts, silk slips and wide-leg trousers. It might sound like a complex combination, but focusing on quality basics is the key to nailing this equation. With lace details and headscarves dominating summer runways, the inclusion of similar fabrics and textures with heavyweight pieces like denim is a great way to carry warm-weather trends into the new season.

SUMMER SHOES AND SOCKS

Oh socks, how we’ve missed you! Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or just averting your eyes), you’ll know toes have been everywhere. From flip flops to sliders, everyone’s airing out their feet – but as autumn approaches, socks are back on the agenda in a big way. If you’re struggling to settle into warmer footwear options after weeks of strappy sandals, then simply adding a sock to your favourite shoe can be a great place to start. From boat shoes to boho clogs, that extra flash of fabric holds endless creative opportunity. Try a polka dot pair for trend-tapping or a grey shade for more seasonal styling.

WINDBREAKER JACKETS
When it comes to layering, a jacket is arguably the most contentious item you’ll have to tackle. Not only are they the final layer of your look – and thus likely to dominate whatever’s going on underneath – but they also need to be practical. Cue: the windbreaker – it’s lightweight and adds a casual edge to any look. Given all the sporty and structured combos we’ve been seeing, it’s no surprise this gorpy fave is dominating street style. With fresh takes in trending polka dot and minimalist off-white, we can see this jacket sticking around for the long haul.
COLOURFUL TAILORING

If you’re still stuck when it comes to shaking up your wardrobe, then injecting some colour into your usual shapes and staples is always the answer. The Copenhagen girlies showed up in all our favourite timeless styles – from structured blazers to crisp shirts – but kept things light with soft shades and delicious colour combinations. Opting for a summery tone when layering ensures nothing feels too heavy handed before winter fully sets in. And if nothing else, dressing this way is undeniably fun. If you’re usually a black and white aficionado, then start with a more general colour palette (like brights or pastels) and go from there.
