HOW TO WEAR 70s DRESSES NOW

The 70s is one of our fave decades. It brought us Queen, bell-bottom flares, Charlie's Angels, disco sequins... need we go on? It also gave us some seriously good dress options that are mainstays in our closets today. To celebrate our love of the free-spirited era, here are five key dress styles and how to wear them now.
That’s all folk
Floaty dresses in folksy patchworks, paisley prints and homespun embroideries were everywhere in the 70s thanks to the peace-lovin' hippies. These frocks are of course perf for vay-cay but, as this street-styler proves, if you swap in some knee-high boots they can totally work for cold weather, too.
Jump day
The turtleneck jumper dress is another treasure we can thank the 70s for. What would we do without this cosy style to slip into on those chilly mornings? This street-styler is giving us major inspo to make it a modern affair by wearing with wide-leg jeans and white boots. Carry a perspex bag for extra style points.
Safari park
The safari trend that ruled through the 70s was all about chunky belts, patch pockets and neutral shades. Easy to pull off yet totally put together at the same time, a belted dress with this sort of vibe is ideal for your 9-5 line-up. We especially love this sleek leather version. A+.
Flower hour
A 70s round-up wouldn’t be complete without a mention of flower power. Petal prints bring an instant uplift to your 24/7 style, espesh on a floaty silhouette. A dark iteration is a good option for winter – add a leather jacket and lace-up boots for an 80s-era punk mash-up.

Heavy shifting
The decade wasn’t all floor-skimming hems and hippy-dippy details. The early 70s also loved slick shift dresses, too. A white iteration is an on-point option for those obsessed with a more pared-back style. Just add black tights and high boots to counter those winter winds.
