HOW TO STYLE OVERSIZED T-SHIRTS

In this day and age, not owning an oversized T-shirt is borderline blasphemous. Too-big tees have been a part of the cultural zeitgeist for decades. They're a staple in streetwear, and have received respect from many a celebrity, from 90s Eminem to 2020s Justin Bieber. There are endless examples of their sartorial stardom. With the seasonal transition upon us, figuring out fresh ways to style baggy tees might feel overwhelming. So if you want to know how to style oversized T-shirts for spring/summer 2026, look to these four outfits.

#1: HOW TO STYLE A WHITE OVERSIZED T-SHIRT

Before questioning how to style a baggy T-shirt, examine your roster. Do you own a white baggy T-shirt? If not, now's the time to invest. A reliable plain white tee will see you through every season and occasion, and you can style it with practically anything. We’ve gone the preppy route with this spring-ready 'fit by pairing a boxy T-shirt with structured trousers and loafers for the perfect smart-casual look. Consider neutrals in your white baggy T-shirt outfits – teaming your tee with beige, brown or khaki results in an effortless seasonal win.

Did we mention how aesthetic-proof oversized T-shirts are? Don’t default to streetwear (unless that's your vibe, of course), baggy tees are just as versatile as blue jeans or low-pro trainers. This cowboy-coded look is proof – you don’t need a collar or swathes of suede to pull off a Western-inspired 'fit. Add dimension to a plain black oversized tee with help from washed black jeans, which you want to fit long, so they pool around your cowboy boots. Tuck in your tee to spotlight the belt, and if the weather allows, top off the look with a cowboy hat to really hammer the trend home.

How to style oversized graphic tees? Experiment with prints, whether that’s animal print, stripes or camo. We’ve teamed this collegiate tee with camo-print denim and Salomons for a street-ready combo. Adding a structured jacket like this one from Carhartt WIP keeps the look casual enough for day-to-day wear but smart enough for Saturday night plans – versatility at its finest.

#4: HOW TO STYLE A LONG-SLEEVE OVERSIZED T-SHIRT

Older brother-core is seeing commotion on socials again, and this look is our take on the aesthetic. Inspired by the grungey heartthrobs of the 00s, the key is to layer a long-sleeved oversized tee under a short-sleeved one for a touch of skater-boy charm. Here, we've gone for a striped oversized tee for visual interest, and kept the layers simple with a plain white long-sleeve underneath. Jorts and the trainers of the era – high-top Converse – are the other key components of the look.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OVERSIZED, LONGLINE AND RELAXED T-SHIRT FITS?

At a glance, all three may seem similar, but let us break it down. Oversized: constructed with wider and squarer proportions, often resulting in an enlarged frame. Longline: these are less about the width and more about the length. Longline tops end further down the thigh than the average T-shirt. Relaxed: they're not necessarily oversized – just made with excess fabric for a slightly looser fit.

HOW DO I STYLE OVERSIZED T-SHIRTS IN SUMMER VS. WINTER?

Oversized T-shirt outfits in summer are simple, but when it's hot, you're going to want to think about breathability. Outfits incorporating shorts, jorts and trousers made from natural fibres like cotton and linen will keep you feeling and looking cool in the warmer months. On the other hand, winter is all about layering. Use your oversized T-shirt as the base of your outfit, wearing jumpers, cardigans and sweatshirts over the top. Styling-wise, make sure you can see the collar and hem of your T-shirt to bring dimension to your layered looks.

SHOULD I BALANCE PROPORTIONS WHEN WEARING OVERSIZED T-SHIRTS?

Some of the best oversized T-shirt outfit ideas consist of contrasting proportions. While skinny jeans risk a top-heavy look, tapered or slim jeans successfully smarten up an oversized upper half. But during spring/summer, capitalise on oversized proportions from head to toe, especially as the weather warms up. That means barrel-leg and super-baggy silhouettes – the less the fabric touches your skin, the better.
