KEY SUMMER TRENDS FROM TOPMAN
By Mark Fountain, 4 July 2022
For Topman’s latest summer line-up, the detail and depth have been levelled up a notch. Inspiration comes from reworked vintage finds, plus they're taking an anarchic approach to design as pioneered by 90s/00s Belgian and Japanese fashion iconoclasts. Expect patches, unique patterns, smart tailoring and tactile fabrics, making every piece stand out in its uniqueness. If this sounds like your thing, then scroll down to discover more.

PATCH PERFECT
Flip to page one of the clothing customisation manual and you’ll find patches. It’s the quickest and easiest way to turn a tired piece into a treasured one-off – Topman has reworked this jacket with Varsity-inspired add-ons, giving you a classic that is modern too.

TEXTURE BOOK
There’s always a place for bold all-over print, but it’s the textures in Topman’s latest drop that are really getting us excited. We’re talking authentically over-dyed denim, pleat-fronted chinos and printed panels on T-shirts – basically, any detail or fabric application that adds to the exquisite feel of each piece.

RE-MADE TAILORING
How do you recognise well-made tailoring? Turn it inside out. Topman’s team pride themselves in designing suiting that is as smart on the inside as it is on the outside. For this latest drop, they’ve (painstakingly) deconstructed vintage jackets and trousers to learn their secrets, resulting in tailoring that mixes authentic features with an effortlessly wearable, modern fit.

PATCHWORK
Rip it up and start again. It’s a punk era maxim that can just as easily apply to Topman’s new designs. And this patchwork fleece sums that up pretty well – a whirlwind of colour, pattern and texture that draws the eye, without being overpowering.
