LOOPED
PUMA X DAILY PAPER
By Nic Hayman, 3 October 2017
Here at Looped, we’re big fans of footy clobber weaving its way into daily wear – with a little refinement, mind, so hold fire on dusting off your old astros just yet. Letting you do exactly that with their latest drop is PUMA.

The Speedcat has partnered with Dutch brand Daily Paper for a tekky capsule collection that brings on-pitch equipment and streetwear looks together in one pack. The beautiful game’s best bits have been tweaked with Daily Paper’s signature African-inspired aesthetic, meaning a range of football shirts, track tops and joggers are hit with vibrant patterns and colour palettes that pay homage to PUMA’s partner nations in Africa: Ghana, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast.

Flipping the source material to the gear that goes through the turnstiles rather than the tunnel, the Amsterdam-based crew have taken to a number of classic PUMA terrace pieces as well. The Roma gets a smart rework, complete with tucked seams and an embroidered heel tab, while the Easy Rider appears with cool colour-blocking in one instance and heavy patterning in the other. Finally, they’ve extended the same silhouette with a mid-cut sock fit in two smart options for a more contemporary look.

We hooked up with London creative and Reprezent Radio presenter Daniel Romain to put the collection through its paces. Dan combines long-sleeved home colours with stonewashed jeans and the Easy Rider for one look. For another, he pairs the Roma with darker denim and the away shirt – and you can layer on a track top or a Harrington jacket for a little more insulation in colder climes. Back of the… never mind.
