KEIRA KNIGHTLEY IN LOVE ACTUALLY

When Keira said ‘I look quite pretty’ in the Richard Curtis Christmas classic, it was a cultural reset. And she was telling the truth. From her faux-fur accented wedding dress (which inspired countless iterations throughout noughties winter weddings) to the infamous baker boy hat, Love Actually is a treasure trove of cosy fashion. The best part is, Keira’s ensembles continue to serve, combining bold Y2K trends with sleek 90s minimalism.

CAMERON DIAZ IN THE HOLIDAY

She may have played an uptight movie producer, but Cameron Diaz delivered effortless style in The Holiday. With a wardrobe spanning sunny LA to snowy Surrey, her chaotic love life is no match for the polished pencil skirts and neat woollen coats she rolls out en masse. Given this impeccable range, it’s surprising Jude Law took so long to confess his love. Personally, I’d have been on my knees the moment I saw that borg-lined coat emerge from the taxi.

BRIDGET JONES IN BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY
Pictures: ASOS
An undisputed British icon, some would argue Bridget Jones put the frazzled British woman on the map. Her array of knitted scarves, infamously large underwear and iconic festive pyjamas still resonate with anyone who’s been caught outside on laundry day. But between the crumpled shirts and mismatched layers, there’s a charm to Bridget’s wardrobe that still triggers festive nostalgia all these years later. The key to nailing this cosy formula with a chic twist is luxurious fabrics, warming seasonal shades and familiar silhouettes. If the Christmas morning feeling was wearable, it would look just like this.

LINDSAY LOHAN IN FALLING FOR CHRISTMAS
Picture: Netflix

The three festive women above are known for their relatively understated style, but there’s one vivacious character who I’d been remiss not to mention. Even after tumbling down a snowy mountain, Lindsay Lohan still looked festively fabulous in Falling for Christmas – and her one-liners cemented the film as a modern classic. Her roster is a delectable assortment of faux fur, feathers and satin – with the season’s bolder colour palette taking pride of place. Think green tights, OTT nightwear and enough pastel co-ords to match the late Queen Lizzie’s collection. Ensembles this vibrant may not suit all your plans, but imagine gliding into Christmas Day with this energy.
