RED CARPET REPORT: GUAP GALA 2025

Friday 7 November marked the return of the GUAP Gala, the annual award show celebrating Black British culture and the tastemakers shaping the future. This year, GUAP joined forces with ASOS to champion the next generation of creative talent, culminating in the ASOS-powered New Creative of the Year award (won by Good Vibes Only).

But the main attraction was undoubtedly the 'fits. Like the Met Gala, the GUAP Gala issues a dress code for guests to interpret – and this year’s 'Everything is a Remix' set the stage for some exciting experimentation. From sculptural tailoring to embellished suiting and archival nods, here's a few of our red-carpet favourites.

INDIYAH AND DAMI

The Love Island alumni and social media personalities are always setting the fashion bar sky high, but with Dami co-hosting this year's event alongside Mikai McDermott, the two went even harder in two outfits for the night. Indiyah flexed her fashion prowess in a Brian De Carvalho mini dress (crafted entirely from razors) for the main event, before slipping into a distressed mini for the afterparty. Dami matched her fly in two white ensembles, proving tailoring is among his many talents. Were we impressed? Absolutely.

LASH

Talent manager Lash (@lash_asolo) clearly has a talent for dressing up because her buckle-heavy look easily deserved its own award. On IG, she described the abundance of buckles, metal and chains as symbolising 'restraint reimagined into strength and unbreakable bonds' and we’re loving this interpretation of the theme. With all the belts, there's also a slight Western undertone at play – intentional or not, it’s a neat nod to summer’s biggest aesthetic. Beside her, Content Creator of the Year nominee – and our red-carpet host for the evening – @yourboymoyo looked sharp in sleek denim and varsity visuals.

SAREL AND ADEOLA

Actor, presenter and content creator Sarel (@sarel) should officially add 'fashion icon' to her resumé – it's only right after this jaw-dropping look. Zooming into the details of her bodice reveals layered jigsaw pieces – a reminder that everything can be configured into something new. Of course, we couldn't not include stylist Adeola Johnson’s (@adeolajohnson) dress made entirely of blonde hair. The look instantly recalls the wardrobes of 2010s Lady Gaga and Game of Thrones' Daenerys Targaryen. Are we technically cheating by counting both looks as one entry? Yes. But with so many amazing 'fits throughout the night, picking only a handful would be basically impossible.

SANDRA

Search 'GUAP Gala 2025' on socials and you’ll instantly be met with Sandra’s (@mssandybabyy) incredible Saranya Umashankar look. The bronze dress featured delicate pleats resembling folded metal sheets and had 'red carpet' written all over it. And proving the makeup and hair is just as important as the dress, Sandra leaned into editorial aesthetics in orange makeup that complemented her dramatic floral hair accessories. A standout look from every angle.

KRYSTAL

Presenter and New Creative of the Year nominee Krystal D'Anjou (@krystalwiththecrystals) lived up to her name. Drenched in sparkling jewellery and crystal embellishments, she was the definition of opulence and grandeur. The whimsical chiffon gown came complete with pearlescent layers, sweetheart neckline and puff sleeves – a perfect contrast to her soft pink glam and maximalist accessories. Blending 80s prom queen with modern flair, Krystal’s execution of the theme was nothing short of exceptional.
