WE LOVE BOHO – HERE'S HOW WE’RE WEARING IT INTO WINTER

#1: TEXTURE

The thing about fabrics is that they determine the drape of the finished garment. And that’s why lightweight chiffons and tulles are perfect for the floaty silhouettes associated with boho style. On the opposite end of the spectrum though, you’ve got heavier fabrics like suede and velvet. Suede gives more of a daytime feel, and the patchwork finish of these Topshop trousers captures the relaxed side of boho, while rich velvet proves how a gothic edge is the perfect way to interpret boho for party season – especially when you bring lace and bow details into the mix.

#2: DARK FLORALS

Naturally, we gravitate towards darker colour palettes in winter. The bright and pastel tones we see in spring and summer become moody and rich as the seasons change – lilac turns into plum, sage into olive, caramel into chocolate brown. All this makes the math for doing winter florals very easy. And for even more winter inspo, paisley is the perfect pattern, as are patchwork florals, like on this Reclaimed Vintage dress.

#3: FLUFFY JACKETS

Boho winter coats might not be the most practical, but the best kind never are. Once again, texture is king on the jacket front, and with faux fur and shearling styles everywhere this season anyway, it makes sense for them to slot into your boho winter wardrobe. The 60s and 70s are pillars of bohemia, and these silhouettes ooze nostalgia for that era. Basically, if it’s shaggy, cosy and in a winter-ready colourway – it’s a winner. Plus, layering a faux-fur jacket over sheer layers is an outfit we can’t wait to pull out for party season.

#4: BOOTS

Boots are a must in your boho arsenal. From suede styles to cowboy silhouettes and slouchy fits, (almost) anything goes, but keep them from being too chunky so they don’t outbalance the floaty layers on your top half. Knee-highs are the perfect partner to a sheer maxi dress, while an ankle boot will look slick beneath jeans.

#5: BOHO ACCESSORIES

We’d be remiss not to mention accessories here – arguably the backbone of the boho aesthetic. And in winter, we’re dressing for parties. Coloured jewels and metallics are your go-tos for this – the more opulent-looking, the better. Swap your enamel bangles for gold-tone ones and your slouchy tote for an embellished clutch that’ll complement your ethereal party dress, add a chain belt to your everyday jeans and a statement earring that’ll steal the show. Boho might be relaxed and carefree, but even the most laidback trend loves a good accessory.
