WHY SATIN IS THE PERFECT STYLE SOLUTION FOR EVERY SEASON
By Flo Bellinger, 11 August 2025
From lace-trimmed shorts to headscarves, satin has been the main character of late. If you’re looking to add some staples to your last-of-summer wardrobe, this firm-favourite fabric is a great contender – providing effortless elegance in a range of silhouettes. And with a few more weeks of warm weather on the horizon, now’s the perfect time to invest. The best part about satin (besides it’s chic simplicity of course) is that it’s easy to layer. So whether you’re packing for that final summer holiday or just looking for a pre-autumn refresh, these pieces will be wearable for months to come. Keep scrolling for the satin staples we’ve been reaching for on repeat.
TOPS AND CAMIS
Satin and lace have been flirting for years, but 2025 was the year they made things official. We’ve been seeing this combo on every clothing item imaginable, and the satin camisole is up there with the best of them. We love this black asymmetric piece paired with oversized jeans and flip flops, and the elongated trim also looks great poking out from underneath a long-sleeved tee or jumper when the cooler weather comes. For something a little more sun-ready, this ecru cami has elongated side splits and a cutout bustier detail that feel equal parts elegant and sultry. Just slip on some mini shorts and open-toe kitten heels and you’re good to hit the town.
DRESSES
Everyone needs a satin dress in their wardrobe, whether it’s a slip or a full-blown gown. These staples are endlessly versatile, layering well with tees and jumpers as well as providing the perfect throw-on-and-go outfit when you’re short on time. More elevated satin pieces like this ARRANGE draped maxi are also great contenders for any formal occasions you might have in the calendar – whether that’s a wedding, birthday, or dinner with friends. We love both of these pieces for their trending butter-yellow tones, but a simple black or white number is also a great option to have in your arsenal.
SHORTS AND TROUSERS
As the evenings get colder, and we swap dresses in for more transitional pieces, trousers and shorts are a firm favourite. To nobody’s surprise, satin comes up trumps here too. From the classic lace-trimmed style we’ve been seeing everywhere, to understated wide-leg silhouettes, there really is a style for every situation. These sage green trousers are the perfect tone for this time of year, with a drawstring waistband that provides casual comfort whilst still oozing elegance. Satin shorts and trousers are also infinitely comfortable – making them the perfect alt for more heavyweight sweat pants before winter really sets in.
SKIRTS
Compared to the dress, a satin skirt is a slightly more casual – and wearable – option. These simple pieces complement a roster of tops, from tanks to tees and jumpers, and despite taking seconds to slip on, they make any outfit look exceedingly well thought through. These options tap into some of the year’s biggest trends, from butter yellow to polka dots. But you can have endless fun with the silhouette thanks to its simplicity.
HEADSCARVES
The headscarf should be renamed at this point, given it’s been styled every which way you could imagine. From neckties to waistbands, wrists and tops, this simple square of fabric is a contender for accessory of the year. Copenhagen Fashion Week proved it’s going nowhere despite the shifting seasons, with the world’s most stylish women finding infinite new ways to wear one. We love these black and white options for optimal versatility, making a last-minute flourish to any look.
