EVERYTHING ON OUR RADAR THIS MONTH

August is that golden stretch of the year that carries us toward summer’s grand finale – and there’s no shortage of things to get excited about. From can't-miss events to must-listen-to music (and all the new drops), this month is packed. Whether you’re feeling nostalgic with Freakier Friday, dancing it out at All Points East or soaking up the good energy at Brighton Pride, there’s something for everyone. You know what to do – add these to your schedule if you want to end summer with a bang.

WEDNESDAY: 6 AUGUST
Goth girls, rejoice! If you’re a huge fan of the award-winning Netflix show, then you’ll know that it’s back on our screens for season 2. Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) returns to Nevermore Academy with plenty more bone-chilling adventures to sink your teeth into. Expect icons like Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper and Joanna Lumley to show their faces, too.

FREAKIER FRIDAY: 8 AUGUST
If the original 2003 Freaky Friday changed your brain chemistry, then the Freakier Friday sequel will be everything you want and more (yes, the world is healing). Two decades on, Anna (Lindsay Lohan) and Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) are older and wiser – Anna has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate merging two families, it seems like the past might repeat itself for Tess and Anna.

THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB: 28 AUGUST
The screen adaptation of Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club book series is finally here. It follows a group of retirees who love a bit of casual sleuthing – and happen to get the opportunity to solve a real-life mystery. Expect a silver-haired, star-studded lineup including Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and so many more.

ALL POINTS EAST FESTIVAL: 15-24 AUGUST
If you’re one of the lucky ones to have scored tickets to Victoria Park’s most-iconic festival, then hats off to you. Expect headliners like Barry Can’t Swim and Raye to bring the soundtrack of summer. If you didn’t get tickets, don’t worry – you’ll still get to see all the best performances via your mate’s mate’s viral TikTok for sure.

LAUFEY, A MATTER OF TIME: 22 AUGUST
Icelandic artist Laufey serves up another album this month, promising a heartfelt symphony of jazzy-pop bops. On Instagram she said: ‘I’ve taken my diary and turned it into an album of songs, delving into the whole range of emotions – from the beautiful to the ugly – that one experiences as life and love unfold in time.’ And we can’t wait to tune in.

BRIGHTON PRIDE: 2-3 AUGUST
Every year, Brighton Pride pulls out all the stops – and this year sees two delicious headliners: Mariah Carey and Sugababes. Whether you’re belting out We Belong Together in a glitter-streaked crowd or dancing to the nostalgic haze of Push the Button, it’s going to be camp, chaotic and completely unforgettable. Pride in Brighton is never just a party – it’s a movement, and this year’s headliners are here to remind us that queer joy is always worth celebrating.

NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL: 24-25 AUGUST
If your bank holiday plans are still pending, then you should put Notting Hill Carnival on the agenda. A colourful celebration of Caribbean culture and music, the carnival is set to make London come alive with the sounds of steel drums and bold style. It’s the ultimate summer street party – and not one to miss.
