INSPIRATION AND ADVICE
GOING ON HOLIDAY? PACK THESE TOPSHOP PIECES
By Flo Bellinger, 14 July 2025
We’re officially well into July – the month when everyone suddenly has an opinion about what you should (and shouldn’t) be packing for a holiday. In fact, you can’t swing an airline-approved cabin bag without hitting an article on the subject. That’s not to say we don’t welcome the unsolicited style advice, but all the dos and don’ts can be overwhelming – especially when luggage space is minimal. That’s why we’ve decided to mix it up a bit, bringing you a list of trip-approved essentials all from one beloved brand: Topshop. This high-street legend has been knocking it out of the park with their summer designs, making them the perfect option for any last-minute outfit prep. Whether you’re looking for finishing touches or full-blown looks, below is the best (and simplest) packing guide you’ll read all summer.
TOPS
Let’s start simple. Once you have the obvious out of the way (bikinis, cover-ups…) the next port of call is usually a ‘going out’ look. You want something comfortable, breathable and crucially, cute. That’s where the top comes in. Not only are tees and bralettes lightweight – and thus easy to squeeze into your suitcase in large numbers – they’re perfect for rotating with a range of skirts, shorts and trousers, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to wear them when you get home. These two hit both ends of the formal vs casual spectrum – with trending tones and unique silhouettes that are easy to dress up and down.
TROUSERS
Next up, your bottom half. A good pair of comfy trousers are your secret weapon when it comes to packing. Not only are they breezy in the heat, but they’re also perfect for travelling (replacing your usual sweatpants if luggage space is short). Pair either of these trousers with a simple tank top and you’ve got a timelessly refined outfit on lock. Alternatively, you can switch out your casual tees for a bralette or satin halter neck, throw on some statement jewellery, and suddenly you’re ready for that golden-hour cocktail. This buttermilk yellow pair are a great way to incorporate trending tones into your look, while the pinstripes feel timeless, elegant, and a little more ‘dressed up’.
SHORTS
Shorts are your best friend when it comes to any kind of holiday ‘activity’ (quotation marks necessary to account for the vast and varied form said ‘activity’ might take). Whether you’re hiking up a mountain (couldn’t be us) or traipsing around a new city shopping and snacking (that’s more like it), it’s likely you’ll want something comfy to see you through any strenuous steps. Save the floating fabrics for those poolside evenings, and grab some shorts for wide, practical strides. This denim pair are certainly more classic – and you’ll be sure to reach for them on home soil, too – but a cotton option is a great alternative, especially if you’re planning on a big lunch.
DRESSES
It wouldn’t be a summer trip without a few dresses. There’s the obvious factor of space, given a dress constitutes an entire outfit without much additional thought (or clothing). Then there’s the versatility. Dresses are great for throwing on over a bikini if you need to interrupt your tanning session and grab a Fanta lemon and crisps – but they’ll also make up a good chunk of your dinner looks (whether that’s a stay-at-home spread in the villa, or a sunset wine-and-dine at a fancy taverna). This embroidered mini dress lets you live out your Tuscan vineyard fantasies, while a simpler poplin piece will see you through countless trips to come.

And finally, the finishing touches. There’s no need to overcomplicate things here. All you need is a strong pair of sunnies and a good bag. If you’re still feeling stuck, look for the two S’s: space and style. This woven bag works as a beach buddy and fits enough inside to double as a travel bag. The black stripes also add an understated print that’ll feel at home with your glammed-up ‘fits. As for the sunglasses? Oval is arguably the easiest to wear, suiting almost any face shape and injecting a little vintage elegance into your look. The dark lenses on this pair are also perfect for some under-the-radar people watching from beside the pool.
