MORE THAN FASHION

EVERYTHING ON OUR RADAR THIS MONTH

With artists taking advantage of the sunny June weather, we’re not short of festivals, stadium takeovers or new album drops, are we? But music isn’t all the month has to offer. If you thought May’s list of things to see and do was endless, June’s here to raise the bar. From exciting new TV shows to a feel-good art exhibition, here's what to add to your diary this month.

GINNY AND GEORGIA, SEASON 3: 5 JUNE
This binge-worthy series always delivers, and this time around Georgia is about to be pushed to her limits – and considering the cliffhanger at the end of season 2, we’re inclined to agree. While everyone’s favourite determined mother faces an uphill battle against the law, Ginny and Austin are set to navigate (and hopefully prevent) her looming future in prison. The drama just got dialled up to 10.

THE BEAR, SEASON 4: 25 JUNE
You read that right – we’ve got an excuse to shout ‘chef!’ for no reason every few minutes. Season 4’s plot is apparently bringing the heat: Sydney’s (Ayo Edebiri) decided to stay at The Bear to keep serving up chaos with her found family, while Carmy (Jeremy Allen-White) still can’t catch a break from the writers. If slow-burning studies of complex relationships are a bit of you, tune in.

28 YEARS LATER: 20 JUNE
Danny Boyle and Alex Garland – the big brains behind 2002’s 28 Days Later – are back for the third instalment in the apocalyptic franchise. This time, the story’s set on a small island where the only survivors of the notorious brain-eating virus fight for their lives. Cillian Murphy won’t return as Jim, but the star-studded cast of Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jodie Comer more than makes up for it.

HAIM, I QUIT: 20 JUNE

Alana, Este and Danielle Haim have mastered the art of the album rollout. Featuring Gen-X soft club visuals on the album cover, they’ve gone all out on the pap-pic throwbacks – whether it’s recreating the photo of Keira Knightley and Jamie Dornan (yes, that low-rise jean moment from the early 00s), or nodding to the iconic image of Kate Moss in her Vivienne Westwood pirate boots. After paying homage to Tumblr circa 2010, we’re expecting a nostalgic blend of rock, electronic and pop on I Quit.

ADDISON RAE, ADDISON: 6 JUNE

The TikTok star-turned-musician may sit in the same hyperpop space as Arca and FKA twigs, but she’s in her own lane with her chaotic off-duty ‘fits and singles like High Fashion, Diet Pepsi and Headphones On. The cover art of her debut album has already garnered lots of buzz thanks to a true Y2K display that references 00s Britney and Hilary Duff.

BEYONCÉ, THE COWBOY CARTER TOUR: 5-16 JUNE

Cowboy hat? Check. Cowboy boots? Check. Lyrics to all 23 songs on Cowboy Carter memorised and ready to go? Check. Beyoncé’s about to be in town for a 6-night residency at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and we can’t contain ourselves. The Renaissance tour taught us that Beyoncé concerts are the closest thing to a runway show outside of Fashion Week, so if you’re showing up, you’d better be in a jaw-dropping ‘fit. Don't stress – we've already got a few ideas in mind.

LIDO FESTIVAL, TOWER HAMLETS: 6-15 JUNE

Who said the only good summer festivals happen in the countryside? Meet the newest addition to London’s social calendar: Lido Festival. With an entire lineup curated by Charli xcx, Lido will be held in Lido Field, Victoria Park for two whole weekends – that’s five days of partying and good music. Influential trip-hop band Massive Attack, Jamie xx and more headliners are set to perform, but expect particularly turned-up crowds during Charli xcx’s set. In fact, we’ve stocked some BRAT tees just in time – perfect while you scream the Guess lyrics.

GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL: 25-29 JUNE

Charli’s Angels will also be excited to know she’s performing at Glasto this year. As usual, Britain’s biggest rave in the mud’s got a stellar lineup – one skim through the poster and Doechii, The 1975, Alanis Morissette, Deftones and Olivia Rodrigo immediately pop out. While sticking to the unofficial uniform of Barbour and a parka’s always the safe bet, if the weather allows, why not add with some fresh aesthetics into your festival lookbook?

YOSHITOMO NARA EXHIBITION: 10 JUNE-31 AUGUST
Contemporary artist Yoshitomo Nara’s got four decades of trippy giant heads and cartoonish characters under his belt – and he’s bringing the wackiness to London. The Hayward Gallery’s hosting his first-ever solo UK exhibition, displaying over 150 paintings, sculptures, installations and more.

WEST END LIVE: 21-22 JUNE
West End LIVE is like the Glastonbury for theatre lovers, and it’s celebrating its 20-year anniversary! Although the schedule’s not yet been announced, last year’s biggest performances included Wicked and Mean Girls – so you can bet we’ll be in for some exciting shows. Just remember to get to Trafalgar Square early, as spots are on a first-come, first-served basis!

EVITA: FROM 14 JUNE
If you only know Rachel from her leading role in The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, let us tell you: she’s just as good in musicals, too. Award-winning director Jamie Lloyd’s bringing this rags-to-riches story back to the stage, and we’re certain Rachel’s amazing vocals – which she showed off in Snow White and Romeo and Juliet – will make it even more enjoyable. If we were you, we’d be securing our tickets like… yesterday.
