5 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR WARDROBE SPRING-READY

Spring 2026 promises a much-needed mood boost after the 40 days and 40 nights of rain (no exaggeration) the UK has seen since the year started. And with the advent of sunshine and rainbows, comes the need for a wardrobe refresh. Protective layers, toasty knits and loungewear essentials likely defined your winter wardrobe, but lighter, dopamine-inducing styles are on the spring menu. While the first flash of a blue sky might tempt you into a full-scale clothing overhaul, don’t give yourself more work than necessary. With some sleight of hand and our styling advice below, you can effortlessly transition your winter wardrobe into the new season.

#1: INTRODUCE COLOUR

From oatmeal to beige, tan to chocolate – the neutral propaganda is in full force. And while these shades are synonymous with the colder months, they can be refreshed for spring with a little finesse. Instead of head-to-toe neutrals (which, in spring, can feel a little dull and outdated) consider a calculated pop of colour. There’s no lack of juicy shades to pop into your neutral ensemble: pistachio green is headlining Pinterest boards, tomato red makes every ‘fit more flavourful and powder blue is the pastel of choice right now. Even something as simple as a colourful accessory can be enough to heighten your mood.

#2: SPIN THE SEASON'S BIGGEST PRINTS

Every year, the same slew of prints come back into orbit – think zebra print, polka dot, florals and stripes. To keep them current for SS26, don’t style them subtly. Instead of a zebra-print trainer peeking underneath your jeans, put a full zebra-print coat on the cards. Afraid of committing the cardinal sin of head-to-toe prints? Don’t be – a stripey co-ord becomes less chaotic and more cohesive with help from an organised palette or a neutral layer on top.

#3: NOD TO THE 80s

Despite giving us neon activewear and questionable perms, the 80s also bore the Harrington jacket and glossy leather. The only rule of the decade was to make a statement, which we saw in the form of angular power shoulders, masculine layers and structured tailoring that meant business. To avoid looking like you’re costuming the era in 2026, blend 80s details with current style essentials – throw a Harrington over a slip dress or pair barrel-leg jeans with a waist-cinching top. You can dip your feet into the trend with smaller details, too – think high-waisted denim and boxy sunglasses.

#4: BLEND IN SOME BOHO

Boho has evolved from a festival cliche into a more refined aesthetic. And much of that evolution can be credited to Chemena Kamali’s designs at Chloé. In SS26, we’re still taking style lessons from the aesthetic. A tiered maxi skirt swinging over clogs, a crochet bandana adorning beachy waves or a suede jacket paired with light-wash denim are all foolproof boho formulas. Even just being intentional with texture can sufficiently infuse your wardrobe with boho-chic. Think a suede jacket, croc boots or a delicate chiffon top.

#5: ELEVATE YOUR LOUNGEWEAR

Instead of retiring your hoodies and sweats in favour of some spring-ready styles, work your existing pieces into the new season. adidas Firebird tracksuits – thanks to their satin sheen, wide leg silhouette and distinctive three-stripe detail – can be polished up with a sleek heel or boot. Alternatively, a bright-coloured tracksuit becomes less corner-shop and more cocktails and canapes with help from a vintage-inspired faux-fur jacket. Whenever temperatures dip, you’ll thank yourself for stacking up on these cosy wardrobe foundations.
