AT PARIS FASHION WEEK, OUTERWEAR IS STEALING THE SHOW

AN UNFAMILIAR TRENCH

The famous beige trench is a wardrobe staple. But this familiarity can be a blessing and a curse. Easy to style? Certainly. Yet finding fresh takes can be tiresome. This alternative silhouette from Dior, seen on Jamie Dornan, proves the wheel is – on occasion – worth reinventing. The billowing silhouette plays with menswear’s love for oversized pieces while nodding to the feminine. It’s a clash of classic style codes we’re sure to see more of.

A BOLD BOMBER

The bomber jacket is another well-loved layer – markedly more casual than other outerwear options and firmly on trend for 2026. This tomato-red take leans into the latest winning colour palette: bold and edible tones. Here, patchwork detailing is reframed through crystal embroidery, which veers away from ostentation thanks to the casual denim underneath.

A PERFECT WOOL COAT

Pervasive as the coat may be, pinning down your perfect match is infamously difficult. But regardless of personal style, three rules stand true: focus on quality, colour and fit. Something that slots effortlessly into your existing wardrobe – like soft earthy neutrals – will ensure lasting wearability. And if the craftsmanship’s up to par, you can’t put a foot wrong. This oversized piece (again from Dior) combines the perfect coat trifecta. It also suggests houndstooth textures are back on fashion’s hit list.

A TINY TAKE ON TWEED

From roomy to boxy, this cropped tweed coat throws the textbook out the window. We’re obsessed with the cinched waist and structured silhouette, which might usually lean more feminine but is grounded by a classic white shirt and sharp trousers. Sometimes all it takes to switch up your style is to look at things from a new angle. And this pint-sized piece has plenty of them.

A COLD SHOULDER

Throwing some colour on your jackets doesn’t have to be an all-out affair, as demonstrated by this ombre jacket. With a dusting of white, a simple black outfit is turned on its head – and you’ve suddenly gone from Uber driver to uber stylish. We’re excited to see more creative spins like this as fashion week unfolds. They’re a welcome reminder that style is there to be played with (even pieces as unassuming as a tailored wool coat).
