HOW TO STYLE ONE JACKET, THREE WAYS FOR PARTY SEASON
By Emma Strawbridge, 20 October 2025
Party season is just around the corner. By now, you’ve probably received a ‘save the date’ in your work inbox, friends are discussing getting plans in before you go home for Christmas, and pubs are posting about festive bookings. But with plans going in the diary quicker than you can say ‘Secret Santa’, the last thing you need to worry about are your outfits. So if you were wondering what men should wear for a party, you're in the right place.

THAT'S WHERE THE BPJ (BLACK PARTY JACKET) COMES IN
It’s real leather with a slight grain, giving it a lived-in feel, but also means you won’t notice any inevitable scratches and scuffs where you might on smooth leather. The classic Harrington silhouette is smart-leaning, so you’ll never look unkempt, even when the rest of your outfit is casual. And lastly, it’s a truly timeless style – black goes with everything, after all.
#1: FOR CASUAL PLANS

Not all party-season plans involve dressing up. ‘A men's leather jacket is one of the most versatile outerwear pieces to have in your wardrobe! Wear it with blue-wash denim and a white tee for an everyday elevated ‘fit or layer it on top of a knit for cosy winter vibes,’ says Charis. This goes for a group trip to Winter Wonderland, pub plans or a midweek date night. And if you like a little more dopamine with your partywear clothes, make that knit a statement one.

#2: FOR A WORK PARTY

Men’s party attire is on a spectrum of formality, so your work party outfit will depend on how corporate your office is. The beauty of this Christmas-party-ready jacket is that it will work over a blazer and suit trousers, so no problem there. But let’s assume the dress code is a little more relaxed, ‘Switching out light-wash denim for a dark indigo or charcoal-wash jean will create a smarter look’, says Charis, and you can balance things out with structured shoes and a shirt. Layers will always add dimension – do this with a cardigan that'll peek out beneath the jacket and colour-drench the outfit to make everything feel intentional.

#3: FOR PROPER PARTY PLANS

When we say dressed-up plans, we don’t mean something you’d need a dinner jacket for, we mean full-throttle party. Staying out all night on the dancefloor kind of party. You’ll want a few less layers for this one, and again, it’s all about balancing the look as a whole. Charis’ advice: ‘Pair [the jacket] with a tailored trouser and a vest for a more dressed-up look.’ You can finish things off with a smart shoe again if you like, but going out-out gives more opportunity for a statement trainer, like these silver Nike Shox. Plus, they’re probably comfier for the dancefloor.
