Streetwear never goes out of style, and German-born brand Prohibited is one of the key players keeping it fresh. You’ve probably already seen it rocked by a few A-listers, and now it’s launched on ASOS so you can get in on the action too. To celebrate, we spoke to founders Philip and Patrick for the scoop on Prohibited’s come-up, inspirations and more.

Hey guys, how did Prohibited start?
We aspired to create the best basics on the market and made TikToks about it – then it took off. In fact, we were only selling basic tees and hoodies for the first 1.5 years of the brand.
Tell us where the brand name comes from.
We just wanted to switch things up and not commit to the regular streetwear playbook.

Where do you get your design inspiration?
Probably the streets of Berlin, as it’s a true melting pot of cultures and styles. We’re also in love with vintage sports, English culture and the coolness of SoHo, NYC.
We love that. What's been Prohibited’s biggest moment so far?
There have been countless – from celebrities wearing our stuff to videos going viral, to Black Friday madness. The biggest moment however, is launching on ASOS.

Obviously! What has been your biggest challenge so far, and how did you overcome it?
Handling the overall growth, and speed of growth of the brand. We overcame these by working non-stop and finding the right people to join us on our journey.
