FIVE EASY CELEBRITY HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS

Spooky season’s sneaking up on us! Unsettlingly speedy year aside, Halloween being just around the corner means only one thing: the annual costume chaos is about to commence. If you’ve got tricks, treats and motives on your calendar, your costume has got to be scarily good. Yep, throw that painfully overused Ghostface mask away – this Halloween, follow the A-listers’ lead by putting some effort into your ‘fit. Effort doesn’t mean buying a costume destined to collect dust in your storage once November rolls around – the most efficient way to do Halloween is with wardrobe foundations that can also be worn year-round. Don’t stress – we’ve built five easy celebrity Halloween outfits using pieces you probably already have hanging in your wardrobe.

#1: JUSTIN BIEBER, MY WORLD ERA

JB may be synonymous with SWAG now, but once upon a time he was a wide-eyed teenager from Ontario with a high-pitched voice and an uncanny obsession with purple. Belieber or not, everyone remembers that early 2010s period where Baby was inescapable, Blackberry was the phone to have and social media was in its infant years. So why not channel this nostalgic era with a last-minute Halloween costume? Not only does it pay homage to one of millennials' founding fathers, but you can create a 10/10 JB look with basically any purple items, cargo trousers and high-top trainers. If you’re willing to go the extra mile, you can even flick your hair into Justin’s iconic spiky side swoop.

Give us one reason why you shouldn’t dress up as the traumatised and ultra-talented cooking prodigy this year – because we have three reasons why you should. 1: he has a grand total of one outfit – a white T-shirt, black trousers and a navy apron – meaning as far as Halloween dress up ideas go, it doesn’t get any easier. 2: The Bear is among the most talked-about TV shows of the past few years, thanks to its star-studded lineup and amazing characters. Finally, 3: you get a valid reason to scream ‘yes, chef!’ all night long – which is guaranteed to annoy your friends during any other time of year. Number three is reason enough in our books.

#3: JOHN WICK

John Wick’s fate at the end of the last film might be in question, but one thing’s for certain: his taste for tailoring. Bring everyone’s favourite vengeful assassin to life this Halloween with help from a timeless black suit – which we’re sure you already have thanks to wedding season. Suits are a great investment for any wardrobe – just whip one out whenever your 9-5 or upcoming festive season soirées call for it. Plus, if you’ve (somehow) not watched John Wick before, the tux can transform you into a myriad of other characters with just a few updates. Accessorise with sunglasses to embody Agent J from Men in Black, or don a bald cap if Hitman’s Agent 47 leads your ‘Top 10 video game protagonists of all time’ list.

Did you lose your voice screaming the Not Like Us lyrics during summer’s Grand National tour? GNX may have been released at the tail-end of last year, but it’s just as relevant almost a whole 12 months later, thanks to the tour and its signature stripped-back aesthetic. Kendrick’s carved his own mural in the streetwear hall of fame, being uniquely dedicated to 2000s LA style: oversized graphic tees, loose jeans and (backwards) New Era hats. He rocks this trifecta on the album cover art, alongside a leather Harrington jacket and royal blue Nike Shox – making it not only an easy Halloween outfit, but a stylish everyday look, too. This has got to be one of the best simple Halloween outfits.

GET THE LOOK:
Nike Shox TL trainers in blue, £154.99
Jack & Jones faux leather harrington bomber jacket in black, £60
Tommy Hilfiger flag graphic t-shirt in white with gold detail, £75

#5: JOEL, THE LAST OF US

The Last of Us is one of the most iconic video game and TV franchises of the last decade – thanks in part to the protagonist Joel. Pedro Pascal’s portrayal of the determined dad isn’t far off from his pixel counterpart – the same dog-eared denim, perpetual frown and impressive zombie-vanquishing abilities. If you’re part of the population itching to see what season three beholds, fill the time by cosplaying Joel this Halloween. All you need are some baggy jeans, a grey or plaid shirt and a neutral trucker or denim jacket over the top. If your denim is in tip-top shape without a faded fibre in sight, you can easily DIY a scruffier, spookier look by throwing them in the wash with a splash of bleach. Washed denim looks amazing paired with rugby shirts and Timberland boots for your post-Halloween plans, too.

GET THE LOOK:
Jack & Jones Chris straight jeans in mid blue, £50
Dickies mechanic denim shirt in dark indigo, £80
Levi's Workwear Capsule Sunrise trucker jacket in beige, £95
ASOS DESIGN cross body PU bucket bag in brown, £24
