STYLE LESSONS FROM THE 90s SUPERMODEL

There’s a reason the 90s supermodel still sneaks her way onto our mood boards. Almost three decades after she first dominated fashion, music and pop culture, her willowy yet refined silhouette remains just as prevalent. It’s thanks to the supers’ minimalist approach – an entire MO built on simple pieces, quality basics and unflappable confidence – that we continue chasing her elusive wardrobe. 2026 might be adorned with wild and colourful trends, but nothing has changed where the 90s are concerned. To feed our relentless appetite for the supermodel aesthetic, we’ve leafed through the archives for our favourite looks. Keep scrolling for a definitive guide to recreating them yourself.

Images of pre-millennium Kate Moss are abundant. Whether it’s her black slip dresses or impressive denim collection, the supermodel’s personal style still feels exceptionally current. Take this airport outfit, which features two items hot on the 2026 hit list: a leopard-print bag and black leather boots. It’s the perfect example of a lived-in look – with form-fitting jeans, a frayed tank and silver accessories that add some personality to a simple set-up.

There was a time when Kate was never far from her right-hand woman Naomi. Both British models had the fashion industry under their thumbs for much of the 90s. And even on rare down days, Naomi followed in Kate’s stylish footsteps with a roster of understated pieces. This capri co-ord captures why our love for the cut-off trouser resurged last year, while the monogrammed luggage is a deliciously nostalgic nod to the era. Black and white is a great place to start when fleshing out your supermodel wardrobe, and softening sharp tailored shapes with relaxed accessories (like these oval sunglasses) is a one-way ticket to sartorial success.

CINDY CRAWFORD

Speaking of tailoring, Cindy Crawford was no stranger to a good suit back in the 1990s. The soft-spoken model might’ve been blessed with a youthful face, but her wardrobe was known for a self-assured maturity. This black suit wouldn’t look out of place in most SS26 collections with its sculpted blazer and straight-leg trousers. We love the combo of black and white on the penny loafers too, while the simple white tee keeps things relaxed.
