THE FASHION MOMENTS THAT SHAPED 2025

If 2025 taught us anything, it’s that fashion lives everywhere: in group chats buzzing over bag charms, in midnight scrolls studying whether Dua Lipa and Callum Turner really deserve the ‘most-stylish couple’ crown and in the tiny details of your own rotation. From a chaotic album drop from a certain West End girl to buzzy catwalk collabs, these are the moments that shaped the year – and made us rethink our own wardrobes.

THE MICRO TREND: BAG CHARMS

Bag charms reached new levels of obsession in 2025. And is it any wonder? No maximalist can deny the simple joy of clusters of trinkets clinking as you take a stroll, or the labubu-fication of your favourite handbag. With all the girls styling them during Fashion Month, and the ability to make this micro-trend as personal and playful as possible, it quickly became a styling hack for injecting character into even the simplest outfit. Plus, it was a reminder that fashion can, in fact, have a sense of humour.

THE BEAUTY TREND: BLUSH

Blush was worn like a badge of honour as the beauty trend of 2025 swept across our cheeks this summer. We enthusiastically experimented with shades of peach, berry and rose, recreating a post-Pilates flush without actually breaking a sweat. Nina Park and Painted by Esther delivered all the blush inspiration we could dream of, while Hailey Bieber’s toasted-glam look at the 5th Annual Academy Museum Gala showed us the warm-toned version just in time for autumn. Blush blindness has never had so much power.

THE METHOD DRESSER: JENNA ORTEGA

Method dressing has become a major talking point, and Jenna Ortega mastered it during the Wednesday Season 2 press run. And in true Wednesday fashion, she fully committed to gothic silhouettes, vampy makeup and ghoulish gowns. Whether it was a spine-tingling latex dress, a cinched tailored look or a boho dress with frills and mesh in equal measure, Jenna managed to wear details that referenced the series without feeling like a costume. Jenna, you can do no wrong.

THE MOST-TALKED-ABOUT ARTIST: DOECHII

Just like her music, Doechii's style is experimental too, and this year she cemented herself as fashion’s chameleon. One week she’s embracing corpcore – with pinstripe suits and ties that had us taking notes – next she’s debuting at Glastonbury in tartan miniskirts and berets. This Grammy award-winner has been giving us non-stop serves ever since she released her Alligator Bites Never Heal album. Plus she's the only A-lister we know who can pull off face tapes in public.

THE INTERNET BOYFRIEND: JOSH O’CONNOR

If you’re chronically online like us, you’ll know that having a boyfriend is embarrassing now. But Josh O’Connor’s meteoric rise as the internet’s collective boyfriend makes the embarrassment worth it. His style is wholesome – think soft cable-knit jumpers and oversized tailoring – and he wears the kind of stuff your parents would approve of. Whether it’s his performance in Knives Out or his charming interviews, Josh has firmly established himself as a soft boy with sartorial credibility.

THE ALBUM: WEST END GIRL

Lily Allen woke up one crisp day in October and chose chaos. Fans analysed every lyric, while conspiracies spread through group chats like wildfire, turning the release into an unforgettable pop-culture moment. And sorry, who can forget her Madeline-inspired Halloween costume? A tongue-in-cheek nod to that song. As of late, we’ve seen Lily move into her retro era – serving a half-up, half-down beehive hairdo on SNL (love!) and bringing West End glamour to the Fashion Awards red carpet. This woman knows how to get us talking.

THE RED-CARPET MOMENT: PALOMA ELSESSER

Paloma Elsesser took the Fashion Awards red carpet and gave us a lesson in how to turn heads during party season. Dressed head-to-toe in this season’s most-loved print, her polka-dot gown balanced old-Hollywood glamour with a contemporary silhouette. Obviously, we immediately took notes, finding ways to bring polka dots into our own partywear wardrobes via sheer maxi skirts, playful dresses and brown-and-blue tops. Her bejewelled ribbon at the front nodded to another of 2025’s micro trends: bows – proving that she knows what she's doing when it comes to fashion. The whole ensemble? A reminder that classics can still spark conversation in a sea of sequins.

THE FASHION COUPLE: DUA LIPA AND CALLUM TURNER

The most stylish celebrity couple? That crown goes to Dua Lipa and Callum Turner, hands down. Take their trip to Paris back in February – they weren’t matching like Britney and Justin, they coordinated. Their choice of leather jackets, casual denim and effortless accessories felt easy enough to emulate ourselves, and so yes, naturally, their outfits went straight onto our moodboards. Honestly, if you’re going to have a boyfriend, it might as well be someone who can dress just as well as you.

THE FILM: DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2

In July, photos of Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) and Miranda Preistley (Meryl Streep) confirmed the rumours: The Devil Wears Prada 2 was in the works. The film’s wardrobe sent the internet spiralling as paparazzi treated us to a mezze of looks fit for Runway Magazine’s office floor. Although the film is yet to be released, its costuming has already stirred all the hype – and fashion lovers are here for it. Until we see it on the big screen, we’ll be taking style cues from the sequel’s sartorial sightings: sleek tailoring, elevated accessories and drama that could steal the spotlight at any Fashion Week.

THE COLLAB: ASOS X ADIDAS ORIGINALS

The one collab that stood out this year? ASOS x adidas Originals. We shut down a street in central London for a catwalk like no other. Hundreds of the city’s most stylish descended on the tarmac as we showcased the bespoke new womenswear collection, designed in-house by ASOS using adidas’ iconic sportswear heritage. From trending silhouettes to three-stripe remixes, the collection was a hit. Amongst the buzz were Ciara, Shygirl and the Sugababes' Mutya as well as your favourite content creators like Lola Clark and Shay Zanco. The energy, the pieces, the people – this was one collaboration that truly had it all.
