FAUX FUR IS ALL I WANT TO WEAR RIGHT NOW

THE LONG ONE

ASOS DESIGN vintage longline faux fur coat in brown, £95
When it comes to faux fur, I say go big or go home. This fabric is a statement in itself, so there’s no use underselling it. And a longline coat like this would give Carmela Soprano pause for thought – with a classic brown shade to complement countless ensembles. Just imagine wrapping yourself in a wearable cocoon during the height of winter. That’s enough to entice you out of bed on the dreariest of days. I also appreciate its capacity to hide what’s underneath – so if I’m popping out in my pyjamas the neighbours are none the wiser.
THE COLLARLESS ONE

Topshop faux fur collarless mid length coat in ginger, £100
Another classic faux-fur silhouette is the collarless jacket. These styles were popularised in the 40s and 50s, and favoured by Hollywood legends including Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Frankly, if an item of clothing can inject some silver-screen glamour into my supermarket shop, I’ll take it. And this mid-length coat from Topshop rises to the challenge. The warm ginger colour palette is perfect for autumn, and those heavyweight sleeves are just waiting to be enveloped with open arms.
THE CROPPED ONE

Monki oversized short faux fur coat with collar detail in neutral brown, £90
If you’re still a little apprehensive about adding some faux fur to your roster, a cropped style is a great option. Serving all the cosiness of a coat and the versatility of a jacket, this Monki piece is at the top of my winter wish list. The neutral shade is flattering for almost all skin tones – and I love the flecks of dark brown to add some visual interest. Whether you pair this with a sleek midi skirt and boots for an evening date or throw over adidas track pants and loafers for casual styling – when duty calls, this coat will be your cold-weather comrade.
THE PRINTED ONE

Topshop faux fur pony skin cow print bomber jacket in cream, £90
It’s no secret that animal print is enjoying a popularity surge – and a temp drop shouldn’t write off a trip to the fashion farm. When worn in dark tones, faux fur can feel a little heavy or highbrow, so a printed option can feel surprisingly understated by comparison. Take this Topshop cow print number as a prime example – the light cream shade softens the look while the print adds some playful energy to a traditionally glamorous piece of outerwear.
THE ACCENTED ONE

Topshop faux leather bomber jacket with detachable fur collar, £75
This one’s for the faux-fur rookies – and to be honest, anyone with great taste. Adding a pop of fuzziness to your look is key to broaching the trend while keeping one foot firmly in familiar territory. Featuring another trending AW25 texture, this jacket combines the best of the season – rich chocolate brown, a smooth faux leather, and a detachable fur collar. When it comes to outerwear, nothing beats versatility. So for all intents and purposes this one wins all round.
