Adelayo had the opportunity to star alongside her longtime friend Tosin Cole (pictured).
Hey Adelayo! How would you describe your character Dionne?
Dionne is a carer by nature and she's completely in love with her fiancé, Michael (played by Tosin Cole). I think it’s really interesting to see things from her point of view because we usually see it from the superhero's eyes. We get a look into how you might feel if your mum or your brother just started flying.
Were you a bit upset that Dionne didn't have powers?
No, I was fine with it [laughs]. I do think that it’s important to see the effect on the person that doesn’t have the powers. But, I’d love to be able to fly.
Personally, it’s Micheal's powers for us...
That’s just too much hassle. I would just get in the way of things if I went to the future or the past. I’d be messing things up, I’d be speaking to people I shouldn’t be speaking to, changing things that aren’t supposed to be changed… But if you’ve had a bad day, you can just fly away and lay on a cloud?!

Just imagine the holidays you could go on.
I mean come on, the dream! You could just fly to the beach.
What was it like working with Tosin so closely?
I’ve known Tosin for years, so it was really nice to come on set with my friend and just have fun.
Nice. How did you prep for your role?
I spoke to Raps a lot and I spoke to Tosin so that whenever Dionne and Michael did have an argument it felt earned. We tried to make sure they weren’t clashing too early and even when they did clash, we made sure that you can still feel the love between them.

Ghetts, Josh Tedeku, Nadine Mills, Tosin Cole, Rapman aka Andrew Onwubolu, Adelayo Adedayo, Calvin Demba and Eric Kofi Abrefa attend the premiere of Supacell.
So, what do you think makes Supacell so unique?
The fact that it’s five people from London, all Black, who are just average people, suddenly developing powers and having no idea what to do with them, but still having to go to work the next day, I think that’s really special. I don’t think we've seen that before.
What issues do you think people are going to learn about?
I think they’ll learn some things about sickle cell. I hope it brings awareness to that because it is really important.
Agreed. What message do you hope people take away from Supacell?
Love. I hope they experience the love onscreen, I hope they’re entertained by the love onscreen and I hope they fall in love with the love onscreen.
Supacell airs on Netflix on Thursday 27th June.
