THE ONLY AW25 TRENDS YOU NEED TO KNOW
By Flo Bellinger, 1 September 2025
#1: OVERSIZED TAILORING

Enlarged tailoring is a mainstay of the autumnal wardrobe, but this year it’s all about giving your usual suiting a new lease of life. From Prada to Dior, AW25 runways saw a welcome mismatch of tailored pieces – with colour-clashing, textural cocktails and unexpected layering. We’re loving an oversized blazer with more casual trousers like cargos or relaxed cotton styles.

Shopping for a new jacket is one of the highlights of a cooler season. Not only does a temp drop promise more layering opportunities, but a good piece of outerwear has the capacity to make (or break) a look – so this is your chance to really get creative. 2025 is the year of leather and suede, with vintage-inspired biker jackets rolling out at Armani and Auralee. Suede’s warm texture and brown tones naturally lend themselves to this cosier time of year, and by opting for a cropped or boxy fit you can easily inject these timeless styles with some avant-garde energy.

If summer was the season of butter yellow, autumn looks set to be a code red. Whether it’s a rich burgundy tone or a bright post-box shade, this standout colour palette is one that returns to fashion runways time and again. If you're on the fence when it comes to brights, start with a small accessory like socks or a bag to ease red into your roster. But if you’re feeling particularly fun, we’d suggest a red jacket or corduroy pieces to really grab this trend by its horns.

#4: ROMANTIC DETAILS

Floral prints are traditionally reserved for the sunnier months – and will undoubtedly crop up in women’s styles year after year. But 2025’s A/W runways were signposted by plenty of romantic patterns across the menswear collections. From sculptural roses at Dries Van Noten to delicate embroidery and bows at Willy Chavaria, there’s plenty of otherworldly inspiration to inject into your wardrobe. The key is balancing these more feminine features with structured suiting and chunky footwear (like leather boots).

#5: TARTAN AND CHECK

This final trend is set to take over the second half of 2025. Across both womenswear and menswear, tartan is having a major moment – bringing with it a serious sense of autumnal nostalgia that nods to preppy school wear and British heritage. We’re loving a checked jacket or blazer paired with neutral, oversized layers. But if you’re ever in doubt, a plaid scarf is always worth having to hand.
