YOUR NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL OUTFIT
By Lakeisha Goedluck, 21 August 2018
Ever since it started back in 1966, Notting Hill Carnival has been a highlight on the London summer schedule. Held over the August bank holiday weekend in the west London borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the carnival has since expanded to become a celebration of the sounds, sights and flavours of the Caribbean. So, if you’re ready to blow your whistle and toot your own horn, here’s a standout ’fit to see you through the big event.
From elaborate costumes to waving national flags, Notting Hill Carnival is an excuse to dress in as much colour as possible. As revere-collar shirts have played a central role in most men’s wardrobes this summer, grab one in a fluorescent-stripe print to join in on the festivities. As for your under layer, channel a traditional string vest and go for a mesh T-shirt instead.
When it comes to your bottom half, you don’t want to detract attention away from that shirt of yours, so stick on a pair of white denim shorts. A canary-yellow belt adds a hint of flavour without overdoing it. Choose monochrome accessories for the rest of your outfit – a flight bag, sports socks and a slick pair of sandals will have you set for partying through the streets all day (and night) long.
