Zara Larsson is in her Midnight Sun era – and we’re jealous. The Swedish pop star might be famed for the hazy days of Lush Life, but she’s enjoying a well-earned resurgence thanks to her latest album, which has also welcomed a world tour. Complete with iconic noughties outfits and crystal-embellished makeup, it’s a Y2K fever dream and we never want to wake up.
From her fur-lined chunky boots and sparkly co-ords to eyeshadows, blush and candy-coloured jewellery, Zara is clearly done waiting for summer: she’s brought it to us. Some decades have such a vice-like grip on fashion culture that they reach mythical status. As is the case with the noughties, where sheer fabric and diamante reigned supreme. Looking back, it’s hardly surprising we’re still taking style notes from the era. It was fun. And Zara Larsson has been sure to invoke every crystal-coated, colourful corner of the early 2000s in her Midnight Sun looks.

To embody the same hot millennial energy as Sweden’s pop princess, start with the silhouettes. We’re talking micro mini skirts (emphasis on the micro), bikini tops layered with draped mesh crops and anything bubblegum pink. Forget every rule the Olsen twins taught you – more is more where Miss Larsson is concerned. Don’t be afraid to layer the unexpected, like fluffy knee-high boots with summery staples. There’s even a case to be made for the skirt-over-jeans combo so beloved by Disney tween stars. They might not suit your formal functions, but a Zara Larsson look will have your festivals, concerts and holidays covered for the foreseeable.

It’s not just the 'fits that have been turning heads in the Zara Larsson camp. We can’t get enough of her makeup. This is where pastel eyeshadows meet fluttery lashes, sharp liner and sparkling gemstones. It's just as fun as the pop star’s matching wardrobe, and has us dreaming of balmy evenings on the Ibiza shores. Zara’s also no stranger to body glitter, often dousing herself in glow ahead of each performance.
Paired with a warm tan and long wavy hair, we’ll be recreating every detail this summer. To recreate her dramatic yet soft-focus eye look, stick to pale shimmery shadows in the inner corner, and build out with pastels to match your wardrobe. A blended black wing and corner lashes provide that signature cat-eye effect, which looks even more ethereal thanks to strategically placed gemstones. Finish everything with a natural base, plenty of bronzer and lashings of baby pink blush.
