HATS ARE ON TOP RIGHT NOW

If last year was about shoes, 2026 is all about the hat. From neon faux-fur to oversized trapper styles, it seems your head is no limit for creative accessorising. Even traditional silhouettes are enjoying off-kilter revivals as the pillbox hat – widely loved in the 1930s – cropped up at Copenhagen Fashion Week late last year. Now gaining traction in every stylish circle across the northern hemisphere, silly little hats are our new favourite fashion friend. Keep scrolling for the pieces topping everyone’s wishlists.

Faux-fur coats might have dominated the pre-festive season, but now it's the hat that's emerged victorious. These playful accessories are not only practical in freezing temperatures – they kick the volume up on an otherwise quiet time of year. Your social calendar may be empty, but rest assured these hats will give your friends something to talk about.

PILLBOX HATS

Delightfully vintage and undeniably chic, it’s no surprise the pillbox hat is back. This neat little number was loved by Jackie Kennedy in the 1960s, and rounds out royal looks thanks to Kate Middleton. But it was last year that the pillbox really came into its own. The Scandinavian girlies started taking these for a spin, and where the Nordic trends go, everyone follows. Now you can’t swing a wool coat and cappuccino without running into one of these hats. Adding understated elegance, the pillbox is a must if you fancy turning heads.

PATTERNS AND PRINT

We all went wild for leopard, deer and cow print last year. And now the animal kingdom has thrown its hat in the ring, yet again. The great thing about pattern is that it applies to everything – so you can update your usual headgear with a simple swap. From wild beanies to polka-dot caps, there really are no rules. And if you’re feeling particularly brazen, then make it faux-fur, too.

TRAPPER HATS

This silhouette proves the 90s and Y2K will always have a hold on us. Back when MTV was required watching, you’d be hard-pressed to find a music video that didn’t feature a trapper hat. Now, thanks to bold dressers like Dua Lipa, they’re enjoying a renaissance – think oversized styles, loud colours and over-the-top textures. These might not work for your morning meetings, but they’ll show the humble baseball cap who’s boss.
