WHICH AUTUMN COLOUR ARE YOU?

If the AW25 runways were a moodboard, the colours alone could keep us fed for weeks. Spring might’ve indulged in mocha mousse and buttermilk yellow, but autumn’s palette is every bit as delectable. We saw it on the runways: Burberry arrived dripping in chocolate browns, Max Mara chose wine-reds, and a mezze of dark greens, rich greys and midnight blues followed suit. It’s no surprise – these luxe shades aren’t just rich, they’re endlessly versatile, turning even the simplest outfit into something more elevated. And these shades got us thinking: if you were an autumn colour, which one would you be? As the seasons shift, it’s time to rip up last season’s palette and rethink your colour story.

If your love for autumn knows no bounds, then you probably have some burgundy, plum or wine-toned pieces in your wardrobe already. But what’s the harm in adding some more? Deep and slightly moody, this shade of burgundy works on everything from chunky sweater vests to glossy loafers – even floor-grazing maxis if you’re feeling dramatic. Team it with grey for elegance without the effort.

From denim co-ords to tartan minis, this season’s greens balance utility with style. If you’re finally ready to invest in a trench – or just want a fresh take – this khaki option will do the heavy lifting. Looking to make a bolder statement? Chartreuse is your girl: she's a little unexpected and has a lot of personality, without compromising on sophistication. Think of it as the shade for people who never quite got over brat green, but know it’s time to move on.

If you consider yourself the human equivalent to a ray of sunshine and love to bring brights into your everyday, powder blue is for you – its power lies in its ability to lift even the greyest autumn day without saying a word. Navy, on the other hand, is a staple – instantly elevating anything it touches. And if you wanted to carry your buttery yellow pieces into the new season, pair them with navy separates for a surprisingly fun combo, just like we saw on Alaïa's AW25 runway.

There’s something effortlessly Parisian about a matching grey outfit, so if off-duty elegance is what you hope to channel, this colour should be your go-to. And remember, grey doesn’t have to be basic – you can refresh it with playful and unexpected silhouettes. Take the classic crew-neck jumper: if you’re loyal to the staple, try a different variation, like this layered style from ARRANGE, for a more elevated look. Cyclical and versatile, grey proves it’s more than a neutral – it’s the shade that can completely transform your wardrobe.

Loved spring’s shade of mocha mousse? Consider this your shade evolution. Ganache is a more elevated tone of chocolate brown, but equally versatile. The only rule when it comes to wearing the shade from head to toe? Mix up your textures to keep things interesting – think faux-fur jackets, sheer details, glossy accessories, and of course, a matching eyeshadow (we love this one from By Terry). Now this is how you add some flavour to your everyday.
