INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

FROM FLORALS TO POLKA DOTS, THESE ARE THE KEY PRINTS OF THE SEASON

Avert your eyes, minimalists – prints are everywhere this season. And while familiar favourites defend their place on the wardrobe roster (leopard print you will always be famous), now's the time to experiment. From a polka-dot renaissance to cocktails of retro styles, there's no such thing as 'too much'. We’ve broken down the trending prints to know, but don’t worry, there's no need to hang up your basics just yet.

LOTS (AND LOTS) OF DOTS

ASOS DESIGN pelmet mini skort in black polka dot, £26

You’d be forgiven for thinking polka dots were a little… last decade. But after dominating SS26 runways at Khaite and Dries Van Noten, they’ve got a new lease of life. Sheer fabrics are a fresh way to introduce them to your wardrobe, while pastel shades inject a subtle pop of colour into simpler looks. If you’re still unsure, stick to goes-with-anything black and white – we're loving this mini styled with a classic cardigan and black boots. You can't go wrong with monochrome.

ALTERNATIVE ANIMAL

Topshop mesh tie front long sleeve top in deer print, £28

Leopard isn’t going anywhere, but when it comes to animal print, there are some new kids on the block. Deer print is the newest addition to the menagerie and with its simple beige and brown tones, it’s easy to see why. Like the best animal prints, it can look minimal or instantly attention-grabbing, depending on how you style it.

STRIPES ON STRIPES

adidas Originals x ASOS knitted polo shirt in khaki stripe, £65

What do the office and the gym have in common (clue: it’s not hard work)? Preppy rugby shirts and classic shirts are two styles united by their love of stripes, and who can blame them? This understated print is a crash course in versatility. Try reaching for pieces with a 70s feel, like striped ankle socks or earthy tones. If in doubt, a good striped sneaker is always a failsafe.

FRESHER FLORALS

ASOS DESIGN scoop neck maxi dress in floral print, £24

Miranda Priestly wasn’t kidding. Besides a bout of hay fever, nothing says ‘spring’s here’ like a floral. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with them. This year is all about leaning into extremes – think lush tropical flowers or teeny porcelain-print blooms. Blown-up watercolour prints feel elevated, while a single bold feature provides an edgier route into this feminine trend.

THE CAMO COMEBACK

COLLUSION Unisex baggy longline jort in camo, £37.99

Camouflage is pretty bold for a print that was literally designed to blend in with its surroundings, and that's the way we like it. This year, camo is in line with its utility origins – think trucker caps, cargo pants, jeans and Y2K track jackets. Opt for accessories if you're into more under-the-radar looks.
