RED CARPET REPORT: MET GALA EDITION

When it comes to red carpets, the Met Gala is the final boss. Every year on the first Monday in May (of course), the tippity-top of the A-list descend upon New York's Upper East Side for a swanky soirée benefitting the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. For 2024, the theme is The Garden of Time (inspired by JG Ballard's 1962 novel of the same name) and toasts the Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion exhibition. The vibes of the evening? Florals, archival pieces and jaw-dropping looks we can't stop swooning over (from the comfort of our beds). Keep reading to see who stole the show...
Zendaya

ZENDAYA IN MAISON MARGIELA

Clad in vintage-inspired Maison Margiela, Z stormed the carpet in style. It's all in the dainty details — just look at the retro glam, feather fascinator and bird earrings.
Gigi Hadid

GIGI HADID IN THOM BROWNE

How to ensure your florals are groundbreaking? Make 'em 3D like Gigi, whose gown took over 13,500 hours to make (seriously).
Zendaya

TYLA IN BALMAIN

She gave us Water... and now she's serving sand. As a reference to the sands of time, this sculpted dress is a sensation (and the hourglass clutch is so on theme).
Dua Lipa

DUA LIPA IN MARC JACOBS

A new era for Dua means some fresh fashion, and the globe-trotter brought the corset trend to the Met steps and proved a little feather boa goes a long way.
Ayo Edebiri in Loewe

AYO EDEBIRI IN LOEWE

After an epic awards season run (how many sleeps until The Bear is back?), Ayo kept the magic going in this ombré gown that exuded garden goddess.
Kendall Jenner

KENDALL JENNER IN GIVENCHY

Tonight's Super Bowl of couture celebrated the lifecycle of fashion, and KJ hit the archives to become the first human to wear this Givenchy Haute Couture moment.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo

ARIANA GRANDE IN LOEWE/CYNTHIA ERIVO IN THOM BROWNE

The women of Wicked are the dynamic duo du jour, demonstrating the power of contrast. But naturally, both brought subtle shimmer and ethereal energy.
FKA Twigs

FKA TWIGS IN STELLA MCCARTNEY

Sustainability was a big part of the night's conversation, and Twigs joined in with a lab-grown diamond two-piece set.
ANOK YAI

ANOK YAI IN SWAROVSKI

Glistening in a full-body crystal jumpsuit, Anok's couture creation from Swarovski was meant to embody water, a crucial element for any thriving garden.

ZENDAYA IN GIVENCHY

Did you think Zendaya and Law Roach would only curate one iconic ensemble? For her return to the carpet, she went for 1996 Givenchy with an entire bouquet on top (by way of Philip Treacy for Alexander McQueen, naturally). This is what Met dreams are made of.
