DATE-NIGHT LOOKS FOR EVERY KIND OF PLAN
By Ayis Stephen-Diver, 2 February 2026
Valentine’s Day is almost here and love is in the air. Whatever your relationship status or plans may be, you’ll want to dress for the occasion. So we’ve picked out a few date-night outfits that’ll cover all kinds of motives. Getting wined and dined at a fancy restaurant? Take your pick of our statement dresses. Heading to a gallery or strolling through the park with a special someone? You’ll fall headfirst for our casual date-night outfit ideas. The best part? You can wear these looks well beyond 14 February, too.
FOR THE FANCY DINNER
Readying up for a reservation at your favourite restaurant? If there’s any time to go all out, it’s now. We’ve got date-night dresses in spades, and some that can even be added to your day-to-night outfits moodboard. Think lacy maxis for a sultry vibe or versatile minis that can be dressed up or down. Stay on theme with red and baby pink for an effortless win, and top them off with some statement heels. Whether they're 6-inch stilettos or sleek kitten heels, you’ll want to make an entrance.
FOR THE SURPRISE DATE
Got that ‘be ready by 8pm’ text? Hello, spontaneity! You might feel a rush of panic at the thought of your date-night clothes, but before you scream into your pillow and sigh at your wardrobe, take a breather. Some intentional accessories can turn any look into a dinner-date outfit. Elevate the jeans-and-a-nice-top look with help from bold jewellery – think mixed-material bangle stacks, layered necklaces and supersized earrings.
FOR THE ARTSY ACTIVITY
Pottery? A gallery visit? Choose something colourful to seem appropriately creative – whether it’s a cosy jumper or a graphic T-shirt. Meeting them for the first time? Then your first-date outfit matters. Consider a super vibrant pop of colour – like magenta, or tomato red (this season's trending shade) – so you’ll be impossible to forget.
FOR THE LONG WALK
So it’s a trip to the park, not Paris. But if 00s romcoms have taught us anything, it’s that the right person can make any location feel special. A rule of thumb if you live in the UK: always expect the worst from the weather. A date dress won’t be on the cards, but that doesn’t mean cosy styles can’t make great date outfits, either. Try a statement layer from The North Face, Columbia or Rains, and keep it casual with gorpcore pieces.
FOR THE NIGHT IN
Maybe you’re (re)watching a romcom or taking embarrassing pictures of each other during a horror film. Genre aside, we’ve got evening outfit ideas to make memories in. Of course, nothing is cosier than PJs – but you need not settle for boring sets. Opt for something sexy or look out for cute bow details. Galentine’s at yours? Match your PJs on the group chat for all those aesthetically pleasing IG pics.
FOR THE CASUAL DATE

If you’re an athletic pair, you’re in luck – your date-night looks are as easy as it gets. Forget going-out date-night tops, trousers or co-ords – instead, blend activewear with casual staples. Think 4505’s dance pants for freedom of movement, paired with an oversized T-shirt or fitted tank. Topped off with some chunky trainers or low-pros, athletic looks are some of the easiest date-night serves yet.
