WE ASKED AN ASOS MAKEUP ARTIST TO RECREATE MADDY’S EUPHORIA GLAM

Euphoria has returned to mixed reviews, but if there’s one thing this show knows, it’s makeup. From the first shot of Rue’s gang back in 2019, the hit series established itself firmly in the zeitgeist with bejewelled eye looks, juicy lips and experimental blushes.

Now, the show's third instalment sees its main characters all grown up. Glitter makeup has been swapped for frosted lipsticks, body glow for Pamela Anderson spray tans and crimped hair for bouncy blow-outs. The Euphoria makeup looks have had quite the evolution. And one woman whose beauty routine has only improved with time is Maddy Perez. After watching her strut down the aisle at Nate and Cassie’s wedding, we knew we had to recreate her soft smoky eye – so we asked our ASOS makeup artist, Isabelle, for all the tips. Keep scrolling for a step-by-step breakdown on channelling your inner Maddy.

STEP #1: START WITH THE BROWS

'Carve out your brows for extra definition,' says Isabelle.
If the eyes are the window to the soul, eyebrows are the curtains – and nobody wants lopsided drapes. Before diving into a heavier eye look, begin by defining and elongating your brows using the Maybelline Ultra Slim pencil, which has a tiny tip for the ultimate precision. ‘Then I carve out the brows using NARS Radiant Longwear concealer to create a seamless base for shadow,’ says Isabelle.

STEP #2: BUILD THE SHADOWS

Layering creams and powders creates a seamless smoky effect.
Next up, lids. To create the perfect soft smoky eye, Isabelle starts with a cream shadow. ‘I buff the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Cobblestone across the lid to create a base for powder shadows.’ This creates a soft-focus effect whilst providing a priming foundation for your smoky look. ‘Then I apply eyeshadows from my Morphe palette, starting with the shade Extra Alien, before adding a deeper shade called Rocket to Riches to the outer corners and crease.’ To brighten the centre of the lid and prevent a messy outcome, Isabelle finishes with MAC Cosmetics Paint Pot in Painterly, setting it in place with Just a Phase from the same Morphe palette.

STEP #3: LAYER YOUR LINER

Use a cotton bud and moisturiser to clean up your eyeliner.
Maddy Perez is famed for her sharp cat eye, but black liner is an intimidating step in any makeup look. Isabelle’s tip? Map things out. ‘I start with a pencil first, which is easy to fix if you have any mishaps,’ she says. The Laura Mercier Caviar eye pencil in Espresso provides a deep shade that’s easy to build. A cotton bud and a dab of moisturiser are your go-to’s for cleaning up the lines, and once the shape is down you can move on to liquid. ‘I love Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel eyeliner in Caviar Ink,’ says Isabelle, ‘because it’s easy to work with and stays put.’ Pull the liner outward from the lower lash line in one smooth motion before building the wing over the top of your mapped-out shape. ‘I then use a fine liner brush to extend a sharp black line into the inner corner of the eye.’

STEP #4: ADD LOTS OF LASHES

'Place your lashes at an angle to elongate the eye,' says Isabelle.
No Maddy Perez look would be complete without a dramatic lash. After layering lashings of mascara, Isabelle adds Tatti Lashes individual wispy lashes for added volume. ‘Place them at a slight angle to lift and elongate the eye shape. Then gently pinch them together with the real lashes using tweezers for a natural effect.’

STEP #5: THE FINISHING TOUCHES

For a clean and defined smoky eye, apply a nude pencil to the bottom lash line. Isabelle uses Maybelline Nude eye pencil to open up the eyes, before adding the same Bobbi Brown gel liner across the lower lashes. ‘I also extended the inner corner slightly for that classic Maddy cat-eye.’ To finish the look, take the same eyeshadows from the top lid to buff along the lower liner, creating a more diffused, smoky finish.
