3 WAYS TO WEAR EARTH TONES
By Eleanor Dunne, 14 January 2019
If we had told you 10 years ago that brown will be the hottest shade in 2019, you may not have believed us. But this season earthy tones are genuinely it, striking the perfect balance between cool and sophisticated. For proof, you need only look at the AW18 catwalks: Fendi's camel hues, Jacquemus' coffee shades and Chloé’s 70s-inspired, bona fide brown-fest. Yep, wearing brown in town (and anywhere else for that matter) is officially the done thing this winter and spring. So, here are three ways to try it now.

Brown town
The word ‘terracotta’ may recall plant pots and 00s interior decoration shows (Changing Rooms, anyone?), but this shacket demonstrates how the shade is a seriously stylish outerwear choice. Just combine it with on-point combat trousers and a mesh top for a fresh weekend 'fit, before finishing with a neon yellow accent to inject a bit of unexpected pizzazz. Who says brown can’t be fun?

Safari adventure
Fashion’s love affair with the 70s continues, and this look vibes off the era’s safari trend. A rusty turtleneck elevates the dress while making it cold-weather appropes, while hoop earrings and a perspex bag give it a modern edge. For a chic going-out-out look, try a semi-matching perspex heel. Or, for a 9-5 update, add in tights and ankle boots – in earth tones, naturally.

Got milk
Now, if you haven’t heard of the milkmaid trend, get familiar – it’s one you’re gonna wanna know for SS19. What is it, you ask? A dreamy combo of frilly details, subtle ruching and sweetheart necklines. This girly milkmaid dress is perfect for your next vacation – or you could swap in brown knee-high boots for cooler climes. Tortoiseshell accessories are big for this year, and this dreamy cage bag is the outfit’s perfect plus-one. Perfection.
