3 EVENING LOOKS YOU CAN WEAR TO THE WEDDING AFTER-PARTY

As wedding season steamrolls into August, we’d like to draw attention to the lesser-known wardrobe dilemma – what to wear to the evening after-party. Not every wedding invite is intended for an all-day partygoer. In fact, a large slice of the guests are expected to rock up to the venue after formalities have been concluded and everyone is ready to let loose. The wedding after-party is a slightly different beast, dress-code-wise (with one exception: ‘black/white tie’ means a smart suit at every stage). It’s a little more casual, a little more dance floor-ready. Here are three looks that fit the bill for almost any kind of evening 'do – no bow ties, pocket squares or patent dress shoes in sight.
#1: THE CASUAL EVENING WEDDING SUIT
If your priority is making the most of the wedding band, you’ll need a suit that doesn’t feel restrictive. Enter: ASOS’ innovative FlexMAX™ line. #2: THE SUMMER SEPARATES
This one is for the simple summer wedding – the city hall ‘do, the pub reception or the garden party. Think of it as a night out with friends, but fancy. Elevated separates are the name of the game, so look for an interesting focal point to build your outfit around – we’ve chosen this ASOS DESIGN shirt because of the laidback camp collar and floral embroidery, but you could equally go for a printed version, or something more graphic. Wear it with smart trousers and even smarter sandals – your regular slides won’t be quite right for the situation.

#3: THE TONAL MIX-AND-MATCH SUIT

If you want to stand out without straying beyond the confines of a suit, give the mix-and-match approach a go. Wear a blazer and trousers in different shades of the same colour – we’ve combined a light-blue blazer with darker trousers here, but you could do brown, beige, green…whatever you desire. A word to the wise though – thanks to the magic of optics, lighter colours can make your body look bigger, so wear the lighter shade on the part you’d like to emphasise. On top, a refined polo shirt will do a similar job to a shirt, but feel much lighter and breezier. Add polished penny loafers to finish.
