FIVE EASY CELEBRITY HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS

An unsettlingly speedy year aside, Halloween's just around the corner, which means only one thing: the annual costume chaos is about to commence. If you’ve got tricks, treats and motives on your calendar, your costume should be scarily good. This year, follow the A-listers’ lead by putting some effort into your Halloween outfit ideas. And effort doesn’t mean buying a costume destined to collect dust in your storage once November rolls around – the most efficient way to do Halloween is with wardrobe foundations that can also be worn year-round. Don’t stress – we’ve built five easy celebrity Halloween costumes using pieces you probably already have hanging in your wardrobe.

At the time of writing, the newest James Bond has been cast but not announced – who knows who will be slipping into 007’s pristine tux? Our money is on Callum Turner, but we’ve been thinking about likely suspects for quite a while now. James Bond’s fate at the end of the last film might be in question, but one thing’s for certain: his taste for tailoring. If you own a black suit, you’re 99% of the way there. A tuxedo? Even better. Style it with a dress shirt and polished derbies – loafers, sadly, are not on MI6’s list of acceptable shoes. Bonus points if you commit to carrying a martini glass on your person the entire night.

It’s fun to dress up as the villain sometimes, but Toy Story 5’s main antagonist is an electronic tablet – an unusually high-effort costume which could involve the painstaking painting of multiple cardboard boxes. Instead, we’re looking to the hero of the movie franchise – lovable cowboy, Woody. You’ve almost certainly got blue jeans in your wardrobe already. Just team them with a checked shirt and some Western-flavoured accessories, and you’ll be ready before you can say, ‘There’s a snake in my boot!’ Note: do not put a live snake in your boot.

If Off-Campus and Heated Rivalry have taught us anything, it’s that ice hockey has come a long way from its image as one of the more unusually hostile winter sports. The ice hockey player has now been reimagined as a sensitive, but decidedly masculine romantic hero. And hey, who are we to argue? The Off-Campus Halloween costume is simple. Grab a hockey jersey for your favourite team – real or fictional. Layer it over a long sleeve tee (it gets cold on the ice) and team with all-American brands like Levi’s and New Balance.

There’s method acting to the madness of Timothée Chalamet’s eye-searing orange suits – it’s partly a reference to the shade of high-visibility ping-pong balls championed by his character in Marty Supreme. But it could also be a callout to his sweetheart. No, not Kylie Jenner – the orange-and-blue-wearing New York Knicks. For this look, you’ll need anything… as long as it’s orange.
