Say what you want about the Vengaboys (and we’re sure that you will), but they have impeccable taste in islands. There’s a reason that Ibiza is a permanent fixture on the holiday circuit from May to October – actually, there are a few. Interested in music, sunshine and good vibes? Read on for all the shorts, shirts and accessories that you'll need for the Balearic isle.
#1: SWIMWEAR
You probably have a pool party or three on the agenda, so getting the 'fit right is key. To really nail it, start with swim shorts. Sunny skies call for bright prints (and lots of them) and Polo Ralph Lauren’s colourful logo pair hits all the high points. If you want to get on the print bandwagon while keeping it subtle, go for monochrome prints and tonal stripes. #2: SHORTS
Ibiza is so much more than ‘eat, sleep, rave, repeat’ – though we respect it as a holiday itinerary. While party culture is a massive draw to the island, it’s also got a great food scene, vibrant culture and plenty of nature to explore, so your wardrobe should probably reflect that. Think baggy cargo shorts and jorts for the daytime and smarter chinos for civilised dinners. If you’re not heading back to the hotel between excursions, dark colours will take you from day to night without breaking a sweat.

#3: TOPS
There really is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to tops for your ‘Beefa jaunt, but the main consideration should be what you’re up to when you’re wearing them. Out all night? Go for oversized tanks and tees that can withstand high temps and copious amounts of nightclub dry ice. The easiest way for you to look put-together at beach clubs is to get yourself a co-ord and match your shirt to your swim shorts. We like seersucker because it looks just as good out of the pool. And if your evenings are looking a little more civilised, pack a breezy linen shirt.

#4: SHOES
Anything goes when it comes to Ibiza. Most clubs are famously relaxed on the ‘no trainers’ front, so you’ll be good 99% of the time with casual shoes. That said, anecdotal evidence suggests you’d be better off keeping your light-coloured pairs off the dancefloor. Sub in darker styles that are more adept at hiding drink spills and scuffs instead. Nike’s P-6000s come in a versatile grey colourway and are comfy enough for dancing in till the sun comes up. Reserve your cream pairs – like these adidas Gazelles – for laidback dinners or exploring the local landscape. For the pool, there’s flip flops, and for everywhere else, we recommend slides. Gold chains might conjure up images of the Ibiza Final Boss, and that really is fair enough – he does know how to have a good time, after all. The fact is that a simple style can be the best and easiest way to finish off your outfit, and it doesn’t have to be chunky. On the sun protection side, you really should have a hat and sunglasses to go along with your SPF. We favour a bucket hat for coverage and rave-appropriateness, and rimless sunglasses for a proper island feel. If you want to break out of a monochrome rut, get a colour-blocked bag like Parlez’s. It’s deceptively spacious, and the fun shades will look just as apt as you head into festival season and beyond.
