EVERYTHING ON OUR RADAR THIS MONTH

November is here, which means Halloween has come and gone, while Christmas has yet to really rev up. And what’s a person to do with their free time in between the festivities? We have some ideas. Read on for late autumn’s best new comfort watches, the most anticipated albums and cultural events that you shouldn’t miss.

Kim K and crew are back for season 2 of All's Fair.

ALL’S FAIR, SEASON 2 – 4 NOVEMBER
Season 1 of All’s Fair was universally panned, but that somehow only added to its appeal. The show, starring a host of award-winning actresses and Kim Kardashian, was always destined to become a camp classic. Season 2 promises even more celeb cameos, slap fights and tense arguments over unusually large conference room tables. Set your Disney+ alarms to watch Sarah Paulson chew the scenery more determinedly than a battalion of termites, and we truly mean that as a compliment.

RIVALS, SEASON 2 PART 2 – 11 NOVEMBER
Speaking of camp classics, Disney+ has served us up another with the latter half of Rivals Season 2. When we last left the residents of Rutshire, they were about to be shocked by the untimely death of one of their own. There will be grief. There will be peril. There will be sex scenes the likes of which you could absolutely not watch with your parents in the room. Tally ho!

HUNGER GAMES: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING – 20 NOVEMBER
The sixth film in The Hunger Games franchise (and its second prequel), Sunrise on the Reaping tells the story of how Haymitch Abernathy fought and won the 50th Hunger Games despite the obscene number of obstacles (literally) thrown his way. Four Tributes from each of the twelve districts have been chosen to fight to the death, so expect no small share of heart-thumping action sequences. The stacked cast includes Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Billy Porter, Kieran Culkin, Glenn Close and Maya Hawke.

Man of the moment Skepta returns with a new album.

SKEPTA, THE FORK AND KNIFE – 6 NOVEMBER
Can you believe it’s been seven years since Skepta’s last album, 2019’s Ignorance is Bliss? This new LP explores what it means to be British when you’re born to immigrant parents, rooted in a multi-genre mix of house, grime, electronic music, garage and jungle. The man himself says it connects the ‘history of the Windrush Generation with the energy and reality of modern London’.

SHYGIRL, SWALLOW! – 6 NOVEMBER
If you haven't heard of Shygirl yet, you’ve definitely heard her music – she’s collaborated with Charli xcx, Arca, SOPHIE, FKA twigs and Björk. This time, her music has more of an indie flavour – a departure from the pulsing beats and unmediated desires of her first album and two subsequent EPs. Consider it a reintroduction to your new favourite artist.

Hot chocolate season officially begins on Fireworks Night.

FIREWORKS NIGHT – 5 NOVEMBER
Can fireworks be considered culture? We say they can. It doesn’t matter if you call it Guy Fawkes, Fireworks or Bonfire Night, you have a golden opportunity to wrap up warm in new-season styles, indulge in a mulled or chocolatey drink, and watch the night sky light up. Many events are ticketed, so avoid disappointment by checking your local listings.

BEYOND THE STREETS, SAATCHI GALLERY – 11 NOVEMBER – 5 MAY
Culture vultures, clear your diaries – one of the largest surveys of art, fashion, music and general boundary-pushing returns to the Saatchi Gallery for a massive retrospective spanning six decades. New, historic and previously unseen work includes sculpture and painting but also rave flyers, photos of London Tube graffiti, rare archives and large-scale installations.
