INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

YOUR BIRTH MONTH, YOUR AUTUMN COLOUR

Some say the best thing about autumn is its colour palette. Rich burgundies, earthy browns – it’s a smorgasbord of delicious tones. Cosy season is so aesthetically pleasing that everything from our nails to our wardrobes starts to resemble the landscape. But this also leaves us prone to trend traps. Chocolate brown suede jackets are always lovely, but not when everyone else has the same idea.

To avoid looking like the rest of the fashion-forward population, we’ve created this nifty list of autumn colours (spoiler: it’s based on your birth month). So, embrace the cosmos, align your chakras and keep scrolling for what is definitely a super official science-backed guide to your new-season palette.

JANUARY, FEBRUARY AND MARCH – NAVY BLUE

In our book, navy is the foundation of a polished autumn wardrobe. Just a whisper from black, it’s a versatile shade that brings the same moody elegance with a little something different. Ideal for winter babies – who grew up stealing the limelight during the darkest days of the year. Navy is particularly effective when paired with clean lines and sharp pieces like tailoring or structured shirts. Finish with smooth leather belts, sculptural jewellery and a small bag for a seasonal wardrobe that oozes expensive taste.

APRIL, MAY AND JUNE – CHOCOLATE BROWN

Perhaps it’s because Easter often falls around this time of year, or maybe it’s the smooth indulgence of chocolate that reminds us of spring, but April, May and June girls were destined for a rich brown wardrobe. These members of the zodiac all share the grounded stability that precedes summer’s fast pace. So, it’s only right they’re styled in an earthy palette. Chocolate brown is a great shade for leather pieces, providing a softer, more wearable alt to their classic black counterparts. We also can’t say no to a brown suede – but reach for unexpected pieces like loafers or trousers to stick out from the crowd.

JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER – BURGUNDY

If the autumn colour wheel had a main character, it would likely be burgundy. Or some variation of the tone. Whether it's merlot or cherry, everyone gets a hankering for rouge at this time of year. But popular does not mean shallow. Burgundy is a complex and varied shade that can take your wardrobe in whatever direction you choose. Whether that’s layering it through prints like tartan, or adding pops with bags and shoes. We personally love a deep-red skirt or wide-leg trouser paired with earthy brown knitwear. It’s a nice blend of texture and silhouette that reflects the bold playfulness of those born in summer.

OCTOBER, NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER – OLIVE GREEN

As we head into winter, the leaves start to fall, the days get shorter, and a part of us mourns for the abundant green of seasons past. Maybe that’s why olive green starts trickling into daily style. This year, texture is on the agenda – so we’re reaching for mossy tones in soft warming fabrics like corduroy or wool. We also love a nod to British country heritage, so a classic green trench is perfect for the countless wintery walks on your agenda.
