ANIMAL PRINT IS GREAT, BUT IT’S EVEN BETTER WITH THESE COLOUR COMBOS

You’ve seen the fashion week roundups; you’ve read the back-to-work style guides. No doubt you’ve started building an autumn wardrobe accordingly. There’s no denying a new season brings waves of sartorial advice, and it can be hard to decipher how new trends will work in your wardrobe. So, what’s a girl to do? You’ll be relieved to hear that we've solved that dilemma for you, by styling two of autumn/winter's biggest trends together: bold animal print, and versatile colour blocking.

Zebra print and blue is a standout combo this season.

Whether its zebra or deer print, animal is autumn’s pattern du jour, and it’s improved ten-fold with the addition of a complimentary colour. The best part is you can utilise each piece as part of a wider wardrobe, so the creative possibilities are both endless and economical. From baby blue and stripes to deer and yellow, keep scrolling for a simple guide to the season’s wildest colour combos.

DEER PRINT AND BUTTER YELLOW

Deer print is having a major moment, and this is our favourite way to wear it. The soft brown hue and delicate spots make for a whimsical choice, elevated with the presence of delicate butter yellow. You might go all-in with a fawn-print jacket and golden tights, or choose a printed accessory and buttery basics for subtler approach. Either way, these two trends were made for each other – and you’ll find no shortage of use for the soft yellow pieces when you're feeling less statement.

ZEBRA PRINT AND BABY BLUE

It was only a matter of time before zebra took the spotlight. At first glance it feels a bit drastic, but this exotic pattern is ultimately a fresh take on black and white stripes (surprisingly minimal!). The monochrome finish makes it a versatile choice, and an unexpected canvas for colour blocking. Who’d have thought zebra and baby blue would be such a power couple? Go head-to-toe zebra paired with soft accessories or flip the script and make the stripes your outfit's accent.

LEOPARD PRINT AND RED

The last combo on this list is a classic. If baby blue and zebra are star-crossed lovers, then leopard print and red are prom king and queen. Widely loved, always reliable, and wouldn’t make sense with anyone but each other. These wardrobe icons are fertile ground for autumn styling, and with berry tones trending once more, September street style is already pairing leopard faux fur with a swathe of red shades. We’re loving a classic red blazer with statement tights and heels. But for everyday wear, a leopard cardigan and red headscarf is our latest obsession.
