STYLE YOUR MOMENT: AUTUMN’S BIGGEST TRENDS – AND HOW TO WEAR THEM

You’ve probably noticed things look a little… different around here. ASOS is entering a new season, one that’s all about styling your moment. But what does that actually mean?

WHAT IS 'STYLE YOUR MOMENT'?

It’s not just a buzzy phrase. We know that getting dressed is one of the most powerful ways we show up in the world. Whether it’s a rushed morning before work or the thought that goes into a first date, the looks we curate aren’t just about style – they’re versions of ourselves.

'Style your moment' captures the confidence that comes with a really good outfit. It’s all about giving you the tools to dress on your terms, with the biggest trends, styling tips and drops at your disposal. If building an outfit shapes who you become, nothing says ‘new me’ like a new season – and autumn is the ultimate time for transition. That’s why we’re kicking things off with an in-depth trend report, with insights from ASOS' Styling Lead, Kieran Clarke. From the new era of animal print to the colour on every fashion editor's lips, keep scrolling for your first look at the season’s biggest trends – and how to style them for every moment.

THE PRINT: ZEBRA

Years may have passed since you left the classroom, but autumn still feels like ‘back to school’ season. It’s a return to routine after summer’s endless days and long nights.

In the past, this has meant preppy looks and clean tailoring, which still dominate transitional dressing. But autumn 2026 is rewriting the rule book. The rigidity of the season has instead inspired fun and whimsy – so expect plenty of bold colour palettes and unexpected prints. None more so than the zebra, which emerges as a playful evolution of stripes.

This monochrome pattern is surprisingly easy to wear thanks to simple lines and colours. ‘Layering zebra prints in interesting ways, like a shirt around the waist or the flash beneath a jacket, is a really fun way to break up a simple look,’ says Kieran. So, whether you opt for zebra heels, a textured bag or head-to-toe dresses, going wild with your wardrobe has never felt more within reach.

THE COLOUR: BERRY

The unapologetic playfulness captured by autumn’s animal prints extends into its colour palette. Rather than sticking to one must-have shade, autumn 2026 is about indulgence. We’re talking a variety of tones from a particularly delicious family: the berry.

Pillar box red – summer’s beloved outfit add-on – isn’t going anywhere. But transitional weather ushers in a fresh spectrum of burgundies, plums and deep rouge browns. 'The easiest way to explore this shade range is through colour-drench dressing,' says Kieran. ‘It feels minimal as it’s all one shade, but these looks still stand out and feel special.’

Plum mules, flashes of red lace and rich trims will all be huge this season. ‘Frame your creamy browns with jewel-tones and olive accessories go mix-and-match within one colour family,’ says Kieran. It’s like your summer wardrobe threw on a few layers and went on a crisp autumn cherry-picking spree.

THE INVESTMENT PIECE: TROPHY JACKETS

Jackets are to autumn what butter is to bread – and we’re always excited to revive our trench coats and bombers when the weather cools. But jackets can also make or break an outfit, so falling back on old favourites can leave you uninspired. Good news: this season’s hero piece captures all the free-spirited fantasy of its trends. If there’s on thing you invest in this autumn, make it a trophy jacket.

Trophy jackets are characterised by brazen details, bright colours and textural finishes – anything that would make quiet luxury duck for cover. There’ll be no stiff-lipped styling or uptight silhouettes here. Embellished details transform a casual utility jacket into an evening centrepiece.

Cinched waists and bold shoulders take your usual layers to new heights. Draped funnel necks fuse Botticelli romance with techy streetwear. If it feels like it shouldn’t work, it probably does. ‘You can have these amazing moments of surprise with fashion,’ says Kieran, who styled this embellished utility jacket with a zebra clutch (pictured above). ‘Something about this pairing just really brings a freshness to two classics: techy outwear and black-and-white.’

If you’re still dubious, remember the best thing about a jacket is that you needn’t get attached – updating an everyday outfit is never easier than with a layer you can throw on and off.
