STYLING

THE COOL GIRL'S GUIDE TO STYLING FOOTBALL JERSEYS

These days, every cultural moment is an opportunity to dress up and express your style, from unofficial concert uniforms to the biggest football tournament of the summer. And speaking of the beautiful game, what do you wear to watch the football? Well, a jersey of course. If you haven’t secured yours yet, now’s the time. Fresh women's football tops from Nike, adidas and ASOS DESIGN have landed just in time for the football 2026 season.

That being said, football jerseys aren’t always the easiest pieces to style. If you’re tired of reaching for the same jeans or denim shorts because nothing else seems to look right with them, take Styling Manager, Sophia Stewart's advice: 'Be confident in mixing up fabrics and shapes to create something fun and expressive. That's how to style football tees in a fashion-forward way.' Here's the cool girl's guide to styling football jerseys, whether you’re planning on watching at the pub, a fan zone or in your friend’s back garden.

#1: AN ENGLAND JERSEY WITH SUMMER SEQUINS

Firm believer that it’s coming home? You need the official England home jersey. The clean white colourway makes it super versatile when it comes to styling – try pairing the sporty silhouette with hyper-femme details, like sequins. ARRANGE dominates the sequin conversation, and this silver skirt is exactly how to make an entrance. Plus, embellishments instantly bring the party to every ‘fit – and with some luck, the aftermath of every match will feel like a celebration. If a sequin maxi feels too much, swap it for a mini or incorporate them in the accessories instead.

#2: TRENDING STRIPES AND MICRO SHORTS

It’s hard not to root for Argentina, especially when their kit is so iconic. Not only that, but stripes are trending so you're winning in sport and style with this jersey. Any striped football jersey is an excuse to unleash your entire adidas collection, and we've done just that by pairing it with matching adidas shorts. Crochet is always a good choice for summer – it's got texture, feels different to a denim or track short and is lightweight, so will keep you cool during the match. Naturally, adidas low-pros are the ultimate style assist for this look.

#3: MATCH YOUR JERSEY TO YOUR ACCESSORIES

Ah, to be roaming the beaches of Cancún or Tulum. Sigh – we can’t all be on a Mexican holiday, but this football shirt is similarly dreamy. adidas clearly did a course in colour theory – an emerald green jersey with complementary red accents? Score. 'Bold accessories and colour pops will dial up a football tee for summer,' says Sophia, so dose up on the dopamine with even more juicy tomato-red toppings. And if the look feels a little too bright, dial it down with help from neutral or white pieces. This embellished skirt softens the colours while keeping the look firmly cemented in summer.

#4: A BABY TEE WITH UNEXPECTED LAYERS

ASOS DESIGN has reimagined the classic football jersey for the 2026 season – and we can’t get enough of them. These baby tees are shirred, shrunken and graphic – so you can bet we’ll be rotating through every colourway. Go all in on the football dress code by layering a crochet maxi over shorts for literal style goals. If that feels a bit too on the side of cosplay, add texture with a crochet bag instead.

#5: TANK TOPS AND TROUSERS

When building an outfit, there are three key elements to consider: colour, texture and proportion. If the colours aren’t interesting, add a touch of texture. If the textures aren’t putting in the work, it’s time to diversify those proportions. The latter is a principle Sophia swears by: 'Playing around with proportions and high-low elements will make a football shirt feel curated and intentional.' It’s why crop tops and tank tops are often worn with Bermudas or baggy jeans – there’s something very chic about varying volumes. Football tank tops are also your answer to warm weather and packed pubs.
