RED CARPET REPORT: MET GALA 2025

The crème de la crème of A-list ‘fit checks is here. Yes, the first Monday in May never comes to play, and this year’s Met Gala truly delivered. Whilst the themes are always iconic, the celebration of the Costume Institute's new exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, made for an especially epic evening. Inside the museum, a history of Black style over three centuries through the lens of dandyism was on full display. And on the red carpet, our fave faces proved they did their homework, showing up suited and booted in archival references, twists on tailoring and head-turning accessories. TEYANA TAYLOR

Teyana Taylor has been in the spotlight for two decades, and the multi-hyphenate continues to bring it on the carpet. For fashion's biggest night, the Rose in Harlem artist collaborated with Black Panther costume designer Ruth E. Carter, turning up in a three-piece red suit with silver chains, a complementary cane, a standout cape, and a satin durag. The mix of silhouettes teamed with the contrasting texture? Perfection.

ZENDAYA

Did you expect anything less than the best from Queen Z? By now, the world waits with bated breath for Zendaya to grace the Met carpet, and this time she stunned us in an all-white look, styled by Law Roach. This Louis Vuitton three-piece suit defines traditional tailoring (whilst channeling Bianca Jagger circa 70s), but the sleek shapes elevate the aesthetic to new heights.

AYO EDEBIRI

Met Monday is magical for many reasons, but it's particularly special seeing stars explain their fashion philosophy. Ayo Edebiri has been a red-carpet force since The Bear premiered, and tonight she revealed the inspiration behind this Ferragamo shirtdress/tailcoat set: her dad. ‘He's one of the dandiest men I know,’ she told Vogue. ‘He got married to my mom in leather trousers and tuxedo tails.’ Obsessed.

CHAPPELL ROAN

Bringing the 'Pink Pony Club' to your first Met Gala is a flex – we don’t make the rules. Sure, Chappell Roan's over-the-top suit may not be providing workwear inspo, but the magenta moment deserves kudos for the timeless tailoring, pristine patterns and glam rock vibe.

SABRINA CARPENTER

Staying true to the hyper-femme aesthetic that's helped make her a mega-star, Sabrina Carpenter embodied the Tailored for You theme effortlessly – think Savile Row meets Parisian corsetry. While she ditched the trousers, she more than made up for it with a burgundy Louis Vuitton tuxedo jacket, bodysuit, and a serious train for a look that's anything but Nonsense.

DOECHII

Collaborating with Met Gala co-chair Pharrell Williams on a custom Louis Vuitton suit is another accolade Doechii can add to her ever-growing resume. The flawlessly-fitting shorts, coat and tails may be impressive, but the piece de resistance has to be the LV monogram on her cheek. Dedication, people.

RIHANNA

There's no Met without Rihanna. With her partner A$AP Rocky as one of the night's co-chairs, fashion fans were wondering if the Bad Gal would make her signature (slightly delayed) appearance. And she did, in custom Marc Jacobs no less. The bustier and deconstructed suit duo will go down in Met history books, as will her other big reveal (which has nothing to do with an upcoming album). Legend status forever.
