By Georgia Trevitt, 20 March 2024
Looking to build a capsule wardrobe but don’t know where to start? Enter ✨the 333 method✨ Coined by TikToker Rachel Spencer (@rachspeed), the concept is simple: choose three tops, three bottoms and three pairs of shoes, then create as many outfit combinations as you can. Whether you’re planning a big clear-out or just want to pack lightly for an upcoming trip, keep reading for some inspo.
THE TOPS
The key is to invest in versatile and staple pieces you can wear on repeat, like these tops. The styling options with a black blazer are endless, while a cute cardigan finishes off any look. A white linen-like shirt is another must-have in any spring/summer capsule wardrobe. Not only does it go with pretty much anything, it’s also effortlessly cool and comfy.
THE BOTTOMS
Who says a minimalist wardrobe has to be boring? A good mixture of bottoms can create looks that are anything but 😍 Black capri trousers are perfect for nailing the minimal 90s trend, and a trusty pair of light blue jeans will carry you through different seasons. For the warmer months, you can’t go wrong with a denim mini skirt like this high-waisted one from Topshop.

THE SHOES
Shoes complete the outfit, and can turn your look from day to night, so it’s important to get them right. A good rule of thumb is to have two pairs of flats and one pair of heels. Trainers are an essential – and the adidas Sambas are still reigning 👑 Another winning footwear choice: ballet pumps – a trend that isn't going away anytime soon. And for the heels? Boots are always a classic.
