STYLING
THE HOTTEST TRENDS OF 2024
By Ayis Stephen-Diver, 8 January 2024

#1. KNICKER SHORTS
Similar: ASOS DESIGN embellished hotpant short in black, £42
Knicker shorts are *officially* having a moment (you can thank brands like Miu Miu and Gucci for this one)! Underwear-as-outerwear isn't anything new, but you've still gotta find a way to make it wearable, right? Team yours with oversized leather jackets, baby tees and UGGs for an off-duty model vibe, or add tailoring and knee-highs for out-out looks like the one above.

#2. METALLICS
You heard right, cyborg-core is gonna be the move. ICYMI, we've already been pushing the silver agenda (Renaissance, anyone?), but since metallics ruled the SS24 runway, it's clear the trend’s about to get even BOLDER. Out with subtle metallic notes via a bag or heels, in with pulling up to brunch in a chromed-out dress 💿👽

#3. 90s FASHION INTERN
You’ve probs seen this style described as 'Office Siren' on your FYP. TLDR, it’s all about looking put-together and preppy, like a stylish librarian 📚 Ways to wear include: office-approved hues like grey and navy, kitten heels straight out of Carrie Bradshaw’s wardrobe, Bayonetta glasses and, ofc, sleek tailoring. Manifest an organised 2024 with one of our fave new aesthetics.

#4. SUPERSIZED BAGS
Topshop Tria puffy tote bag, £35
Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Celine... just a few of the luxury brands who sent oversized bags down the SS24 runways – and we (and all our stuff) are glad for the extra room! Basically, if it looks like you can fit a whole wardrobe inside, it's a winner 🏆 Exhibit A: this Topshop tote.

#5. SHEER LAYERING
Layering is a *crucial* skill for any fashion girlie. You’ve def aced the basics already, so it’s time for level ➁: sheer layering. We all rocked mesh long-sleeves underneath our fave graphic tees for a little ⛓️𝖊𝖉𝖌𝖊🥀 last summer, but this year it's all about the H2T look. Unleash your inner I-T-G-I-R-L by going for sheer separates styled with soft knits, lace deets or leather jackets for a real texture hit 🧶
