THESE MUST-HAVES WILL CARRY YOU THROUGH OCTOBER

Autumn is about to really start kicking in. Between cold commutes, pub plans, office days and weekends away, you need styles that are versatile and reliable. But if you’ve found yourself standing in front of your wardrobe scratching your head, don’t worry – we have all the pieces you need this October. From puffer jackets to prints that fit every agenda, your name is all over these.

THE JACKET: PUFFER

The puffer jacket’s journey from expedition gear to everyday essential is one for the history books. Modern puffers are constructed to keep the cold firmly at arm’s length, while still looking good. You can toss one over a T-shirt and straight-leg joggers for frosty walks, but they can also take the edge off smart trousers and loafers. You’ll get plenty of mileage out of a black puffer (now’s the time to invest in one from The North Face), but khaki, grey and neutrals feel super contemporary.

THE PRINT: CAMO

Camo has reported back for duty this season, arriving in the form of lightweight layers, cargos, tees and more. The print itself has also evolved, from the patchy woodland camo we’re all familiar with to more street-ready variations. One camo piece at a time is plenty: style a camo shacket with a plain knit for a coffee date, or team a camo puffer with a tracksuit to brave the cold. Blacks and neutrals are natural pairings for the print, but flashes of colour bring an element of fun.

THE COLOUR: GREEN

If blacks and beiges have been carrying your wardrobe, start looking to greens for some variation, because this colour has serious range. Consider olive and khaki your new neutrals – they work into everyday outfits easily – while deeper forest green shades will add a rich feel to smarter RSVPs. Our favourite way to style these tones is by colour-drenching. Head-to-toe colour works particularly well when you experiment with different tones. For example, a khaki quarter-zip and classic cargos paired with a light green trench coat. If that feels intimidating right now, you can start small with accessories – a green beanie, scarf or bag is enough to get the ball rolling.

THE SILHOUETTE: RELAXED

We're not showing slimmer fits the door, but relaxed silhouettes offer maximum comfort and cool factor. Look for pieces that skim rather than swamp your body, so you’re not sacrificing shape. Try styling a boxy hoodie with baggy jeans or wide-leg cargos with a double-layered skater tee. This goes for tailoring, too. Tapered smart trousers and slouchy knits are comfortable enough to carry you through an office day, but still look like you put in effort.

THE ESSENTIAL: KNITWEAR

If October had a uniform, it would be the humble jumper. It’s dependable, versatile and welcome in practically every setting. The right one can sharpen up baggy jeans, soften tailoring and keep you warm – especially chunkier knits. We’ll always advocate for having a reliable rotation of jumpers. That includes everything from ribbed knits to quarter-zips and cardigans. The October menu is overflowing with warm neutrals and versatile shades that will slot into your wardrobe with ease.
