If the gap between the world football tournament ending and new league starting feels unbearable, allow us to occupy your mind with something else: your favourite footballer’s style. In recent months, these athletes have been dominating the fashion field – whether it's Eberechi Eze being papped with a Burberry holdall or Erling Haaland stepping off a plane with a capacious Birkin. But if you look back at David Beckham in the 00s or Mario Balotelli circa 2010, you'll see that these footballers have had skills in the style department all along. SAY YES TO 2010S TRENDS

Mario Balotelli was ahead of his time. His style has become the blueprint for many streetwear influencers today, and we have his love for 2010s trends to thank for that. If you’re not ready to go all out on bling like Balotelli, you can take inspiration from his favourite silhouettes instead. We could go on and on about Declan Rice’s recent pitch highlights, but we need to applaud his style glow-up, too. Here, he shows off a clean smart-casual look.
