EVERY MICRO-TREND FROM MILAN FASHION WEEK
By Steven Potter, 17 June 2024
Milan's SS25 showcase has SO many talking points: British designer Martine Rose’s Italian debut, Sabato De Sarno’s first collection for Gucci, and actor Mads Mikkelsen stealing the show at Zegna. Although we’ve studied the catwalks, the guests on the pavement often deliver the best looks – keep scrolling for our favourite street-style looks from over the weekend.

SMART-CASUAL TAILORING
Tailoring continues to cement itself as an ever-present choice among Fashion Week attendees. This shorts-and-blazer combo is perfect for any boardroom-to-beach scenarios and get a look at that tee. Texture is big this season, so instead of your favourite white T-shirt, opt for something mesh and colourful to break up your look.

GRUNGE WORKWEAR
This is peak grunge workwear. It’s also proof that, alongside tailoring, there’s still space in the European street-style scene for the ever-popular utility aesthetic. Take this as a sign to invest in a pair of carpenter-style jeans, like, right now.

OVERSIZED PROPORTIONS
We didn’t mention tailoring proportions earlier, because we wanted to save that conversation for this look. The easiest way to give your smart outfit a sprinkle of edge this summer? Scale up the proportions and go oversized with everything. Relaxed blazers and wide-leg trousers also make great statement separates on their own, too.

SKATER STYLE
Alright, apart from us trying various filters to see how we would look with red hair, we’re also entirely convinced skater-style is going nowhere. Watch any skate video from the mid-90s to the early 2000s and you’ll see a variation of a shrunken polo and baggy trousers. It’s the anti-fit feel of this kind of look that makes it so simple, yet so striking.

XXL SHORTS
Talking of throwbacks from the early 2000s, shorts have gradually increased in volume over the last few years, and now we’re finally living in a peak-baggy era. Jorts might be this season’s most-wanted, but you can get ahead of the curve by getting a smarter pair in an equally enormous cut.
