INTERVIEW

BTS OF OUR NEW-SEASON TREND LAUNCH DINNER

Not following us on socials? Side eye, because we recently hosted an IG-worthy dinner at Bambi, London, to celebrate wrapping on our new Streetwear Staples trend shoot (shameless 🔌). The food was *chef's kiss* but the main serves came from the 'fits worn by some of our fave creators 🍽️ Between bites, we caught up with them to talk all things fashion. Scroll for the scoop!

ALY (@yungalyy)

Hi Aly! Right, let's jump right into it. Describe your style to us in three words.
Unique, unusual and kiddish.

Who do you get your inspo from?
Old people and kids. Kids are so expressive, and old people have so much wisdom and know how to throw things together.

Are you a serial outfit planner or more spontaneous with it?
It depends. If I have an idea for a certain video, then I'll find inspo for that and see what I can put together. If I'm just getting ready for me, it'll be very random. I normally go with the pants first, work my way up, and then finish with shoes.

We hear ya! And how do you know when the look SLAPS?
When you go outside and you get a lot of stares, that's how you know you've done well. They can be good, bad or even confused stares, but as long as it makes them double take 🤪

MATTHEW & JC (@matthew.yg & @jaycee_yg)

Hello both! So, the Streetwear Staples trend is all about transitional vibes. What's your fave fashion season?
Matthew: Gotta say spring because you can do a bit of everything.
JayCee: Agreed, I like layering.

Who do you look to for streetwear inspo?
M: Pharrell Williams and I’d like to say myself. I’m the one who puts it all together and makes things my own.
J: A lot of people inspire me, like Jerry Lorenzo, but recently I’ve looked to Pinterest a lot. I like seeing what other people are wearing and incorporating it into my look.

And how do you plan your looks?
M: When I get a new piece, I like to create an outfit straight away. I’ll start with my jacket or even my hat sometimes – the hat and shoe ratio is v important, they need to match.
J: I normally start with footwear because I really like shoes. However, if I wanna wear baggy jeans or sweatpants, I’ll usually base my outfit around them.

GUS (@stuccigus)

Howdy Gus! What colours are you feeling at the moment?
I feel most comfortable in anything dark like leather, browns and forest greens.

We hear green is the trending shade of the season... who inspires your style?
My partner, big time. When I leave the house, I mostly wear her stuff 🥰

Awww! What's the weirdest thing in your wardrobe?
At a car boot sale, I was wearing this jacket and saw the exact same one sized for an 8-month-old baby, so I decided to get it!
