STYLING

HOW WE DO SS19 TAILORING

Ok, so your casual look is pretty much locked down for summer, but what about a smarter vibe? For work, date nights and anything slightly more formal slotted into your iCal... there’s more than one way to do SS19 tailoring. And as usual, the chaps at ASOS HQ are our best source of inspiration. Check out some of the tailored looks currently doing the rounds below.

Office-appropriate athleisure

For a long time jeans or chinos were really the only options we had when it came to styling out your legs. Now however, the trouser game is wide open. Take the look above from Marketing Graduate Ben. It’s business athleisure – and if that’s not a thing, it definitely should be. Take a cue from him and team your vintage Nike tee with some smart check trousers and sparkling Nike Air Force 1 kicks.

Sorbet shades

Summer tailoring doesn’t just mean three-piece suits – a sharp shirt and trouser-combo is all you really need to qualify. In terms of SS19 looks, Analyst Graduate George’s sorbet-hued outfit is giving us peak-summer vibes. With washed-out sunset shades a key colour choice for the season, the cord shirt, fresh white tee and utility-style trousers above are ticking off at least three of this year’s key looks. Great work.

On-point pinks

It’s not all about your trouser game though, chaps. Give your top half the tailored treatment by swapping out your trusty denim jacket for a blazer instead. With a washed-out pink vibe throughout, Senior Finance Analyst Zach has offset the warm tones with a cool blue tee for a touch of contrast. With those Converse trainers rounding off the look, you can file this one under dress-down Fridays for sure.

Cargo classic

Who'd have thought that the utility trend would lend itself so well to a more tailored look? Take Senior Treasury Analyst Garfield and his revere-collar shirt and check trousers, complete with those all-important pocket details. If you aren’t a fan of a bolder look, take a cue from our man above and channel a monochrome colour scheme instead. Also, just because we’re talking smarter looks, it doesn’t mean trainers are out of the question. Just peep those Nike 270s in a clean-black colourway for proof.
