ASOS Insiders: summer style
By Luke Keleher, 10 June 2016
Summer dressing isn't just about keeping cool. To help inspire your wardrobe over the coming months, we’ve enlisted the ASOS Insiders – our cohort of style experts – to showcase some of their most powerful summer looks.
Globe-trotting Insta-addict TK solves the summer layering puzzle with a neutral longline tee and cropped denim jacket. When it comes to the bottom half, he’s pulled on longer-length shorts and styled them up with fresh sneakers, which lends a skater feel. Swerve the no-socks trend, like him, and take the opportunity to pledge your brand loyalty with a logo-embroidered pair.
The ASOS Insider for Germany and Scandinavia, Dennis, is beating the heat by keeping his colours at the lighter end of the spectrum. A crisp white crew-neck T-shirt is a staple for every guy’s wardrobe – at all times of the year – and can be remixed into countless outfits for the warmer months, so arm yourself with an array of them. Finally, he’s wearing a pair of stone chinos rolled up over bare ankles, which lets his fresh kicks shine and keeps his look casual.
Suede? Check. Pink? Check. Ashley is ticking off all the trends for SS16 with this dusty blush bomber jacket. The Great British summertime rarely sees temperatures reach the lofty heights enjoyed by the rest of Europe or, indeed, the world (*sigh*), so there’s untold mileage in a lightweight top layer like this. Take a leaf out of his sartorial handbook and wear yours with jeans and featherweight layers in the city.
If, like Tony, black will always be the new black to you, then stay true to your penchant for monochrome and take on summer like a trendy vampire venturing into the sun. The key is to opt for items in a lightweight construction, such as this cotton slim-fit T-shirt. When it comes to super-skinny jeans, they look good all year round, but you might want to opt for a pair with rips to keep things breezy.
Just because you’ve jetted off into the sun, that’s no excuse for leaving your sense of style at home. Oliver is rarely seen out of chinos but, for a sharper, more summery take on the smart/casj classic, he’s swapped them for simple pair of tailored shorts and sharpened things up with a crisp white Oxford shirt. To keep things relaxed and holiday-worthy, he’s finished off his ‘fit with sneakers and a cap.
