STYLE ADVICE

The sock situation

With your summer wardrobes already getting a workout, the heat is on to get your sock situation sorted. Here are five solid ways to pull your sartorial socks up this season.

Classic

Accessorising with your socks and laces is the easiest way to update a classic pair of Converse. Go for white, grey or blue socks, allow them to poke out of the top of your shoes and tie your shoelaces around the top of your ankles to upgrade this teenage favourite. Team with shorts and a T-shirt and you’ve got yourself a festival-friendly look.

Sporty

Nothing says summer like some white kicks, but boxfresh creps require clean white socks. Sports-style socks are a strong street-ready choice that will introduce subtle colour and add interesting detail. Wear with shorts, a tee and an open shirt.

Invisible socks

If you’re after a clean-ankle aesthetic but not bold enough to go barefoot, an invisible sock is the solution. This cut-out style is the sock drawer’s secret weapon – it does all the good work of your standard socks but without the unwanted ankle adornment. It’s the perfect way to give your shoes (and shins) a chance to shine this summer.

Socks and sliders

Socks and sliders remain a contentious combination but they’ve settled in for another season and, worn simply, they can offer style, comfort and steez. The key to this look is colour coordination, so stay away from loud prints and colour clashing and keep the colour consistent throughout your outfit.

Sockless

From the catwalks to the red carpet, more and more men are forgoing socks in the name of fashion. While socks and trainers are a cool combination, the smarter styles like loafers lose their edge once socks are involved. We recommend clean feet, fresh kicks and plenty of confidence.
